1          Merci, Frère Boze. J’aurais pu simplement continuer à écouter cela pendant un moment. C’est très beau.

            Je regrette d’être en retard ce soir. Le manager m’a appelé et m’a dit de venir un peu tôt ce soir. Et je–j’avais oublié cela. Et je continuais simplement à prier, il m’est arrivé de lever les yeux, et je me suis dit: «Bien, voici que...» J’ai regardé ma montre et j’ai dit: «Eh bien, oh! la la! il est... quart, je dois me dépêcher.»

            Et puis, voilà que les gens se tenaient là, ils voulaient me rencontrer quand j’arriverais. Alors, ils ont dit qu’ils allaient me retrancher des points. Ainsi, je pense que c’est bien. Très bien.

2          Eh bien, nous sommes heureux d’être ici ce soir. Nous sommes très heureux, et nous regrettons que le temps continu à être ce qu’il est. Mais nous comprenons que demain ou le jour suivant, il y aura une éclaircie, selon ce qu’a dit le présentateur météo. J’espère qu’il a raison. Mais de toute façon, le Saint-Esprit viendra malgré tout à notre rencontre ...?... Il ne nous délaisse jamais. Et Il–Il sera toujours ici, de la même manière.

            Je L’aime ce soir. Et je sais que vous aussi, n’est-ce pas? [L’assemblée dit: «Amen.»–N.D.E.] Alors, je suis très heureux que tout le monde soit amoureux de Jésus. Et Il est amoureux de nous tous. C’est ce qui est bien, n’est-ce pas? Car Il nous a aimés avant que nous L’aimions.

            Quand nous nous comportions d’une façon vraiment odieuse et contraire à Dieu, Lui cependant, Il nous a aimés. Je... juste... Ça semble mal, n’est-ce pas, de penser que...? Frère Ryan, je ne sais pas si je pourrais supporter cela très longtemps, que quelqu’un soit très méchant et en désaccord avec moi et que je continue à l’aimer.

3          Une fois, ça ne fait pas longtemps, je tenais une réunion dans–là dans l’Ohio. Et oh! la grande arène était bondée et nous étions tout simplement... je devais loger loin à la campagne, dans un motel. Et nous mangions dans un petit restaurant Dunkard.

            Oh! ce sont les gens les plus gentils, et–et ces gens étaient très aimables. Et–et nous les avons beaucoup appréciés. Et alors, le dimanche, ils ont bien sûr fermé. Nous devions traverser la rue, traverser la route, pour aller à un petit endroit. C’était un petit endroit très mondain, où il y avait un de ces petits juke-boxes, très bruyant que tout le monde jouait.

            Frère, l’homme qui ôtera ces choses de cette nation, je voterai pour lui. Je–je voterai sûrement pour lui. Et toute cette musique insensée jouait, et aussitôt que je suis entré là-dedans, la première chose que j’ai remarquée, c’était un policier qui se tenait là, enlaçant d’un bras une jeune femme, il jouait à une machine à sous.

4          Et c’est illégal de jouer à la machine à sous dans l’Ohio. Mais la loi... Eh bien, ensuite, la chose suivante que j’ai remarquée, en regardant là derrière, c’était une jeune femme vêtue d’une manière très indécente. Et elle était assise, à moitié ivre, à côté d’une table, quelques jeunes gens avec elle ...

            Et j’ai vu, assise à ma droite, une femme âgée, d’environ soixante-cinq ans, je pense. Et elle était vraiment à moitié nue, vous savez. Et–et ses lèvres étaient peintes en bleu, les ongles de ses pieds étaient peints avec la même couleur. Et, oh! la la! je me suis dit: «C’est affreux.»

            Et je me suis mis à réfléchir: «Mes petites Sara et Rebecca vont-elles devoir grandir dans une telle affaire? Quelle sera l’issue?» Je me suis dit: «Ô Dieu, comment peux-Tu supporter de regarder cela? C’est comme si Tu devrais tout simplement Te mettre en colère et faire sauter ce monde.»

5          Et puis, pendant que je me tenais là regardant cela, je critiquais cette femme. Je critiquais cet officier dans mon coeur. Mais je ne m’étais pas encore assis à une table. Et alors, Quelque Chose a semblé me dire: «Viens ici, de ce côté. J’aimerais te parler.» C’était mon Patron.

            Et pendant que je me tenais là, je me suis mis à penser comme cela. Et la chose a semblé m’apparaître–devant moi, pas une vision, j’appellerai cela juste une vision mentale.

            Il me semblait voir le monde. Et autour du monde, il y avait un arc-en-ciel. Et cet arc-en-ciel représentait le Sang de Jésus-Christ. Et si jamais ce Sang quittait là, Dieu ne pourrait pas regarder ce monde une seule seconde. Il le détruirait. Ce Sang de Christ est la seule chose qui nous garde de–de la colère de Dieu ce soir. Le saviez-vous?

            N’eût été cela, il n’existerait plus de monde dans l’espace de cinq minutes. Dieu ne peut pas regarder le péché en face. Et la raison pour laquelle Il ne voit pas ce monde, c’est parce que le Sang de Jésus-Christ le garde loin du péché.

6          Si Dieu pouvait regarder et voir une pareille scène, ce serait fini. Il–Il est tellement Saint. Il ne pourrait pas supporter cela. Alors... Mais le Sang de Jésus...

            Et ensuite, voici ce qui m’est apparu. J’ai pensé voir le Sang de Jésus, qu’il agissait comme un pare-choc, juste comme celui d’une voiture. Au lieu que cela heurte la voiture, cela heurte le pare-choc, et cela–le–le pare-choc protège la voiture. Et je me suis dit: «C’est ce qu’est le Sang de Jésus. C’est un pare-choc contre nos péchés, qui fait qu’avant que cela aille devant Dieu, c’est–Lui reçoit cela. C’est un pare-choc.»

            Et je me suis dit: «Oh! la la! Voilà que je critiquais cette femme-là.» Je n’ai peut-être pas fait cela. Je n’ai peut-être pas agi comme ce policier, mais aux yeux de Dieu cependant, j’étais un pécheur autant qu’eux, autant que la femme qui était assise là. Le péché, c’est le péché. C’est tout. Voyez?

7          Peu importe votre–votre moralité. Vous êtes un pécheur. Vous êtes simplement un pécheur.

            Et alors, je me suis dit: «Oui, et Dieu m’aurait tué n’eût été le Sang de Jésus-Christ, qui garde mes péchés loin de Sa Présence.

            Et alors, Quelque Chose est venu vers moi et a dit: «Oui, Je te pardonne. Mais toi, tu veux la condamner.»

            Je me suis dit: «Ô Dieu, c’est vrai. C’est vrai.»

            J’ai vu alors mes péchés, et un jour, j’ai rampé jusqu’à Lui. Et j’ai vu un vieux Livre posé là, le nom de William Branham était écrit dessus et toutes sortes de péchés étaient dedans. Et j’ai dit: «Seigneur, je–je suis vraiment désolé de T’avoir fait autant saigner», et Son visage était couvert de sueur, et le Sang coulait.

8          Et j’ai dit: «C’est moi qui ai fait cela. Veux-Tu me pardonner?» Et Il a pris Sa main et l’a plongée dans Son côté, et Il a écrit sur ce vieux Livre: «‘Acquitté.’» Et Il a jeté cela derrière Lui dans la mer de l’oubli, pour ne plus jamais s’en souvenir contre moi. C’est juste.

            Eh bien, Il m’a pardonné; et moi, je voulais la condamner. Cela a changé mon attitude. Je me suis avancé là, vers cette femme. J’ai dit: «Bonjour.» Elle était en compagnie de deux hommes, et elle se conduisait très mal. Et alors, ils sont simplement sortis. Et je me suis avancé. Et j’ai dit, j’ai dit: «Veuillez m’excuser.»

            Et elle buvait. Et elle a dit: «Oui, monsieur.»

            Et j’ai dit: «J’aimerais vous parler.» J’ai dit: «Je suis un ministre;»

            Elle a dit: «Oui?»

            Et j’ai dit: «Je suis un ministre.» J’ai dit: «Je me demande si je pourrais vous poser une question. Pourquoi faites-vous ceci, vous comportez-vous comme ceci? Etes-vous une mère?»

            Elle a dit: «Oui, monsieur.»

            J’ai dit: «Pourquoi buvez-vous et tout? Puis-je vous poser cette question, si cela ne vous blesse pas?»

            Eh bien, si vous aviez entendu l’histoire de cette femme, c’est une histoire à vous briser le coeur. Et elle a dit: «J’étais autrefois une chrétienne.» Elle a dit: «Si je ne me trompe pas, n’êtes-vous pas le révérend Branham qui était là-bas?»

            J’ai dit: «C’est moi.»

9          Et je lui ai raconté ce que je venais de voir. J’ai dit: «Je me tenais ici, et je vous condamnais, et je me disais que Dieu devrait venir détruire cet endroit, avec tout ce qui se passe ici. Mais j’ai changé d’avis. Dieu m’a pardonné. Et j’aimerais qu’Il vous pardonne.» Et juste là à cet endroit-là, je l’ai conduite à Jésus-Christ. Amen. Voyez?

            C’est de votre–de votre attitude à l’égard de la chose qu’il est question. Ne condamnez pas les autres. S’ils se comportent mal, soyez bon envers eux de toute façon. Ne tenez simplement pas compte de ces choses. Parce que Dieu a dû ne pas tenir compte de beaucoup de choses à votre sujet et à mon sujet. C’est juste.

            Que Dieu nous aide à avoir toujours cette attitude dans nos coeurs. Priez pour moi afin que je ne considère plus jamais les gens de cette manière. Peu importe ce qu’ils font. Que je les considère toujours comme des créatures de Dieu. Que Dieu a envoyé Son Fils pour prendre leur place.

            Et moi, en tant que ministre, je suis reconnaissant qu’Il m’ait pardonné. Et j’aimerais qu’Il leur pardonne aussi. C’est de cette manière que nous devrions nous y prendre.

10        Dans Esaïe, chapitre 30–chapitre 53, nous lisons ceci:

            Qui a cru à ce qui nous était annoncé? Qui a reconnu le bras de l’Eternel?

            Il s’est élevé devant lui comme une faible plante, Comme un rejeton qui sort d’une terre desséchée; Il n’avait ni beauté, ni éclat pour attirer nos regards, et son aspect n’avait rien pour nous plaire.

            Méprisé et abandonné des hommes, Homme de douleur et habitué à la souffrance, Semblable à celui dont on détourne le visage, nous l’avons dédaigné, nous n’avons fait de lui aucun cas.

            Cependant, ce sont nos souffrances qu’il a portées, c’est de nos douleurs qu’il s’est chargé; et nous l’avons considéré comme puni, frappé de Dieu, et humilié.

            Mais il était blessé pour nos péchés, brisé pour nos iniquités; le châtiment qui nous donne la paix est tombé sur lui, et c’est par ses meurtrissures que nous sommes guéris.

Nous étions tous errants comme des brebis, chacun suivait sa propre voie; et l’Eternel a fait retomber sur lui l’iniquité de nous tous.

Il a été maltraité et opprimé, et il n’a point ouvert la bouche, semblable à un agneau qu’on mène à la boucherie, à une brebis muette devant ceux qui la tondent; Il n’a point ouvert la bouche.

            Il a été enlevé par l’angoisse et le châtiment; et parmi ceux de sa génération, qui a cru qu’il était retranché de la terre des vivants et frappé pour les péchés de mon peuple?

            On a mis son sépulcre parmi les méchants, son tombeau avec le riche, Quoiqu’il n’eût point commis de violence et qu’il n’y eût point de fraude dans sa bouche.

            Il a plu à l’Eternel de le briser par la souffrance... Après avoir livré sa vie en sacrifice pour le péché, il verra une postérité et prolongera ses jours; et l’oeuvre de l’Eternel prospérera entre ses mains.

            Que le Seigneur ajoute Ses bénédictions à la lecture de Sa Parole. Le prophète Esaïe avait reçu une vision de ce qu’était Jésus, de qui Il était, de ce qu’Il ferait, et de quel sacrifice pour le péché Il ferait ...

11        Il fait très chaud ce soir. Alors, je crois qu’au lieu de prêcher comme je l’avais annoncé, ma prédication... Je ne suis pas très fameux comme prédicateur. Je suis juste un de ces anciens types de prédicateurs sassafras tel qu’on les appelle dans l’Indiana. Vous connaissez. Alors, vous êtes des gens trop gentils pour rejeter cela. Alors, je vais simplement témoigner, et vous raconter peut-être quelque chose que le Seigneur a accompli tout au long de notre–de notre voyage.

            Et maintenant, j’aimerais penser à certains de mes jours du début. Lorsque j’ai commencé à tenir de grandes campagnes, les réunions avaient beaucoup d’éclat à l’époque. Bien sûr tout le monde courait ici et là, mais maintenant, bien sûr c’est différent de ce qui se passait à l’époque.

            Mais, le pasteur Baxter, mon frère et moi, nous bavardions l’autre jour, nous réfléchissions, il a dit: «Considérez ces choses glorieuses, ce qui est arrivé, ensuite regardez comment cela est en train de se calmer.» Dieu accorde des réunions et ensuite Il termine Ses oeuvres.

            Nous pensons à Jésus-Christ, lorsqu’il était ici sur terre. Les premières années de son ministère, oh! il y avait de l’éclat partout. La deuxième année de Son ministère, les gens se sont mis à L’accuser et à Le traiter de Béelzébul et tout. La troisième année, ils L’ont tué.

12        Voyez? C’est toujours ce qui se passe. Les premières années de l’Eglise pentecôtiste, c’était merveilleux. Juste après, une persécution a suivi la deuxième année et elle les a dispersés partout. La troisième et la quatrième années, on a commencé à voir des gens, juste de tout petits groupes: par exemple, il y avait cinq hommes avec quatre ou cinq femmes; ils formaient une église.

            Voyez-vous comment ça se passe? C’est toujours ainsi. Dieu jette tout simplement un grand filet de l’Evangile, et Il le lance... Le Royaume des cieux est semblable à un homme qui est allé à la mer et qui a jeté un filet. Et lorsqu’il a retiré le filet, il a attrapé les créatures de toutes espèces qui–qui vivent dans la mer. Il les a attrapées dans le filet. Il avait des poissons; il avait des tortues; il avait des araignées d’eau; il avait des serpents; il avait toutes sortes de créatures.  

            Eh bien, ce n’est pas notre affaire en tant que prédicateur de dire: «Ceci est un poisson, et ceci est cela.» Nous tirons tout simplement le filet de l’Evangile, et alors, peu après vous voyez un réveil se produire, beaucoup de gens sont sauvés et louent le Seigneur. Mais vous voyez, certains sont des poissons, et d’autres sont, nous dirons, des tortues. Cela ne fera pas longtemps que vous direz: «Eh bien, je ne croyais pas qu’il y avait quelque chose de vrai, après tout.» Et le voilà qui retourne vite droit dans la marre.

13        La vieille araignée d’eau, vous savez, plop, plop, plop: «Je vous disais que ce n’était pas vrai après tout.» Eh bien, il retourne à l’eau.

            Et le serpent va se mettre à siffler et dire: «Je n’aime pas la manière dont ils font ces choses, sss–sss.» Directement, il retourne dans l’eau. Mais il y a aussi quelques poissons là-dedans. Dieu les connaît. Eux, ils sont des poissons de par leur nature; il est une araignée de par sa nature; il est un serpent de par sa nature.

14        Et c’est Dieu seul qui fait l’élection et l’appel. Et notre travail, c’est simplement de prêcher l’Evangile. Est-ce juste? C’est Dieu qui appelle. L’un plante, un autre arrose, et Dieu fait croître.

            Je me souviens que c’était très difficile au début, lorsque j’ai commencé à prêcher la guérison divine. Oh! la la! je me souviens que l’évêque de l’église m’a parlé, eh bien, il a dit: «‘Billy, tu as fait un cauchemar. Tu n’as vu aucun ange.»

            J’ai dit: «Je n’apprécie pas cela, Frère Davis.» J’ai dit: «Non, non. Cela... Pour moi, c’est sacré. Et cela représente beaucoup pour moi.»

            Il a dit: «Tu veux dire qu’avec ton instruction de l’école primaire tu vas prier pour des rois et des monarques?»

            J’ai dit: «C’est ce qu’Il a dit. Il en sera ainsi.»

            Il a dit: «Allons, Billy.» Et ainsi de suite.

            J’ai dit: «Non, je vais simplement vous rendre ma carte de membre pendant que je me tiens ici, car je crains que je n’aie plus à l’utiliser.»

            Alors, il a dit: «Oh! moi je ne penserais pas ainsi.»

            Mais j’ai dit: «Eh bien, on pourrait bien le faire.» J’ai dit: «Si c’est Dieu qui m’envoie, il y aura quelqu’un là-bas qui va recevoir cela.» C’est tout. Dieu ne fera jamais rien ici, à moins qu’Il ait quelque chose qui travaille là-bas. Et croyez-vous cela? Absolument.

15        J’étais... Aujourd’hui, je réfléchissais, et un homme dans son coeur, il est telles que sont les pensées de son coeur. Alors, je pensais comment au tout début des réunions, après que j’ai commencé, le–à certains événements qui se sont produits, comment les gens avaient des songes et venaient aux réunions, comment un grand réveil était en cours et secouait les gens. Et maintenant, cela s’est répandu, cela est allé partout dans le monde, partout. Et ce soir, même de nombreuses églises du Plein Evangile condamnent la guérison divine et disent: «Cela n’existe pas. C’est de la sorcellerie et tout.» Les gens devraient prendre position pour les–pour les puissances de Dieu.

            Mais savez-vous ce que Dieu fait? Il met cette organisation de côté, et Il continue tout de même Son chemin. Cela ne L’arrête nullement. C’est toujours...

            Toutes les organisations vont finalement terminer là à Babylone, exactement comme la Bible dit qu’elles le feront. Et Dieu, de tout ce groupe... Le mot même Eglise signifie appelé à sortir. «Sortez du milieu d’eux, mon peuple, afin que vous ne participiez point à leurs péchés.» C’est l’exacte vérité.

16        Eh bien, je me souviens une fois à Jonesboro, dans l’Arkansas, comme l’une des–des choses émouvantes qui vient de me venir à l’esprit maintenant. Il est arrivé qu’au cours d’une soirée... Je tenais des services dans la–la salle. Et beaucoup de gens s’étaient rassemblés là-bas, à tel point que les journaux ont publié que nous avions vingt-huit mille personnes.

            Eh bien, si le journal a publié cela, ils étaient tous là, tous. Et ainsi, ils étaient là sur une distance de quarante miles [64 km] près de Jonesboro. Vous ne pouviez même pas trouver une maison de ferme. Les gens avaient formé des cités de tentes et tout, pour–pour s’occuper des gens, du logement des gens.

            Lorsque les gens ont commencé à voir les merveilles de la grande puissance de Dieu révéler des choses, c’était entièrement nouveau. Les gens venaient carrément. Mais maintenant, ils ont tellement vu cela qu’ils disent: «Eh bien, Seigneur, si c’est tout ce que Tu as, eh bien, je vais attendre autre chose.» Oh! la la! Voilà les gens, n’est-ce pas? Cela–voilà les gens.

            Et je me souviens que je n’avais pas vu ma femme depuis environ deux ou trois mois. Et j’avais une petite fille, ma première fillette; en effet, elles seront en route pour venir ici demain. Elle a maintenant sept ans. Elle était une toute petite enfant lorsque j’avais quitté la maison.

            Et lorsque je suis rentré, elle ne me reconnaissait même plus. J’avais perdu presque tous mes cheveux, et j’avais perdu beaucoup de poids, environ vingt livres [9 kg] et mes épaules s’étaient voûtées. Et sa mère lui parlait, disant: «Voilà papa.» (Ma photo était sur le–sur la commode.)

            Elle a dit: «C’est papa.»

17        Et un jour froid, lorsque je suis rentré par un jour de froid, et que j’ai fait quelques pas dans la maison... et nous habitions une petite maison de deux pièces. Et ma femme était à l’intérieur, et nous causions et elle... J’ai dit: «Où est l’enfant?»

            Elle a dit: «Elle dort dans l’autre pièce.»

            Alors, je suis allé au vieux petit berceau. Et je n’oublierai jamais cela; je l’ai réveillée. Et ces grands yeux bleus m’ont regardé, vous savez, et elle a eu peur de moi. Cela m’a fait mal. Et je... Sa mère l’a prise et me l’a tendue. Elle a dit: «C’est papa.» Elle est retournée. Ce n’était pas son papa. Elle regardait la photo qui était sur le... La photo ne ressemblait pas à son papa.

            Alors, eh bien suivez, mes amis, je prêchais l’Evangile. Je faisais du mieux que je pouvais, comme je le fais ce soir. Un glorieux jour, ce sera différent, de l’autre côté, lorsque nous arriverons tous à la Maison.

            Et je me suis épuisé. Je restais jour et nuit sur l’estrade, une fois, je suis resté environ quatre jours et quatre nuits, ou plus, sans même quitter l’estrade, à prier pour les malades. Et il y avait plus de gens à la fin de la réunion, bien plus qu’il y en avait quand nous avions commencé. Et on n’en finissait pas de prier pour les malades.

18         Et des choses glorieuses se produisaient. Je me souviens qu’un soir là-bas, une dame s’est avancée, elle tenait son mouchoir comme ceci. Je pensais qu’elle était en train de pleurer. Il était environ trois heures ou quatre heures du matin. Et aussitôt que je l’ai prise par la main, et que je me suis mis à lui parler... Je pensais qu’elle pleurait.

            J’ai dit: «Oh! madame, vous–vous avez le cancer sur le nez, n’est-ce pas? Et elle a retiré cela, le mouchoir, et son nez avait été entièrement rongé par le cancer. Et alors... Et j’ai dit: «Croyez-vous que Jésus vous guérira?»

            Et elle a dit: «Je viens de quitter Memphis.» Et elle a dit: «Les médecins là-bas m’ont dit l’autre jour qu’il n’y avait aucun espoir pour moi. Cela était plutôt tellement avancé que même le radium ni rien ne pourrait l’arrêter.»

19        Et oh! je me suis dit: «N’est-ce pas... C’est certainement bien dommage.» Et juste peu après, eh bien, j’ai prié pour elle. Et environ trois ou quatre mois après, je me trouvais à Texarkana, et j’étais dans une petite réunion là-bas.

            Et aussitôt, j’ai vu quelqu’un agiter la main vers moi au fond, et elle agitait la main vers moi. Je ne savais pas qui c’était. Ce jeune homme est monté d’un bond; il était un dératiseur là-bas. Et il–il s’est levé.

            Il a dit: «Frère Branham, je ne peux plus garder cela.»

            Et j’ai dit: «Qu’est-ce qu’il y a, fiston?»

            Et il a dit: «C’est ma mère. La reconnaissez-vous?»

            J’ai dit: «Non, je ne la reconnais pas.»

20        Elle a dit: «C’est moi la femme qui n’avait pas de nez il y a environ trois mois.» Elle avait un autre nez. Dieu l’avait guéri. Cela avait repoussé. Et j’ai son nom, son adresse et son témoignage.

            Et le problème, il se fait qu’elle suivait un traitement, elle est retournée chez son médecin. Et–et elle a dit...Il a dit: «Oh! la la!»

            Elle a dit: «A quoi cela ressemble-t-il maintenant?»

            Il a dit: «Eh bien, dites donc.» Il a dit: «Qu’est-il arrivé?»

            Elle a dit: «J’ai changé de médecin.»

            Il a dit: «Eh bien, chez qui êtes-vous allée?»

            Elle a dit: «Je suis allée chez le Docteur Jésus.»

            Il a dit: «Le Docteur Jésus?» Il a dit: «Voyons. Où exerce-t-Il?» Il a dit: «Je ne crois pas que je...» Oh! la la! n’est-ce pas quelque chose? Oh! la la!

            Mais il se passe bien des choses. Je me souviens d’une autre soirée là-bas où quelque chose s’était produit. J’étais à–à Little Rock et il y avait dans un... Eh bien, le révérend monsieur Brown...Si vous voulez prendre ce témoignage, écrivez simplement au révérend G.H. Brown, au 505 de l’avenue Victor. 21        Nous étions en train de prier et la... oh! les journaux avaient formulé les pires critiques, disant qu’il y avait–que j’avais bloqué le... Il y avait des ambulances là-bas. Ils ont dit: «Un prédicateur baptiste prétentieux sur son trente et un...» Oh! vous n’avez jamais entendu rien de tel de votre vie. Je vous assure.

            Alors, ils ont dit... Et les voitures étaient bloquées dans la rue par les ambulances. Et je priais depuis environ deux ou trois heures.

            Et le révérend Brown est venu me voir, c’était l’un des parrains de la réunion. Il a dit: «Frère Branham, lorsque vous aurez fini, au fond de la salle, a-t-il dit, il y a un cas comme vous n’en avez jamais vu.»

            Ça faisait alors environ trois ou quatre mois que je priais pour les malades, j’avais vu bien des choses pendant tout ce temps-là. Et il a dit: «Lorsque vous aurez l’occasion de souffler un peu ...» J’allais prier pour les gens toute la nuit de toute façon. Il a dit: «Venez, j’aimerais vous montrer quelque chose comme vous n’en avez jamais vu auparavant.»

            Et j’ai dit: «Très bien.» Alors, quelques instants après, j’ai descendu les marches. Et alors, mes amis, lorsque je suis arrivé en bas...

22        Je raconte ces choses pour la gloire de Dieu (Voyez-vous?), pour la gloire de Jésus-Christ, afin que vous puissiez connaître certaines choses qui se sont produites. Oh! il y a eu des millions de choses, je ne dirais pas des millions, mais quand même plusieurs milliers de choses qui se sont produites. 

            Et je suis descendu au bas de l’escalier. Et il y avait une dame étendue là, elle était étendue sur le plancher. Elle était en une sorte de short. Et ses mains étaient levées comme ceci, et ses pieds étaient relevés, elle était couchée sur son dos, elle était simplement couchée là comme cela.

            J’ai dit... Il y avait un vieux frère typique de l’Arkansas qui se tenait là, et il...

            J’ai dit: «Est-ce votre femme?»

            Il a dit: «Oui, Frère Branham.»

            J’ai dit: «Pourquoi ses–ses–ses jambes saignent-elles comme cela?»

            Il a dit: «Eh bien...» Il a dit: «Elle vient d’un asile d’aliénés.» Il a dit: «Elle traversait la ménopause. Et elle a eu un enfant, et cela l’a plongée prématurément dans la ménopause. Le médecin lui a donné certaines piqûres, et cela lui est monté à la tête. Et elle est alors devenue folle.»

            Elle avait passé deux ans dans un asile d’aliénés. Et il avait entendu parler là, dans le Mississippi, de la mère d’un–un soldat qui avait été guérie et qu’on avait fait sortir d’un asile d’aliénés. Alors, il a dit: «Je l’ai amenée.»

23        Il a dit: «Frère Branham, j’ai quatre petits enfants chez moi.» Il a dit: «Et j’ai–j’ai... nous avons vendu notre ferme et tout, a-t-il dit, pour–pour essayer de la soigner. Et elle suit des traitements.»

            Et il a dit: «Et puis, aujourd’hui, a-t-il dit, je–j’ai vendu mes mulets.» Il a dit: «J’ai dû l’amener ici.» Il a dit: «On m’a autorisé à la faire sortir, juste pendant la soirée.» Et il a dit: «On n’arrivait pas à la faire entrer dans une ambulance. Je suis allé prendre quelques frères là-bas. Et à cinq, nous l’avons fait sortir de cet asile d’aliénés, et nous l’avons fait entrer dans une voiture.» Il a dit: «C’est là qu’elle a brisé toutes les vitres de la voiture à coup de pieds pendant le trajet, alors que cinq hommes n’arrivaient pas à la maîtriser.»

            Et lorsqu’ils l’ont fait entrer là dans la salle, frère Brown a dit qu’elle avait juste pris cette place. Ils avaient juste... elle avait bousculé ces hommes dans tous les sens. Et alors, lorsqu’ils l’ont fait descendre, bien qu’elle était couchée sur son dos, elle a simplement levé ses mains et ses pieds comme cela,  ses yeux étaient très vitreux. Et c’est dans cette posture-là qu’elle était.

            Oh! j’ai dit: «C’est bien dommage.» J’ai dit: «Je vais m’avancer et tenir sa main.»

            Il a dit: «Oh! Fère Branham, ne le faites pas.» Il a dit: «Elle vous tuerait.»

            Oh! j’ai dit: «Je ne pense pas.» Et je... J’étais juste un jeune homme à ce moment-là, alors, je n’avais pas tellement d’expérience avec les démons.

            Alors, il a dit: «Frère Branham, je vous avertis, ne le faites pas.»

24        Et j’ai dit: «Oh! je ne pense pas qu’elle me ferait du mal, frère.» Et j’ai descendu une petite marche comme cela, et je me suis avancé sur le plancher. Et elle était étendue là, les mains levées. J’ai dit: «Bonsoir, soeur.» Je l’ai tenue par la main. Et juste au moment où j’ai tenu sa main, je... elle s’est agrippée comme cela. Et elle a tiré comme cela. Elle m’a pratiquement soulevé du sol. Et elle m’aurait projeté de l’autre côté de la pièce. Et je... Eh bien, elle pesait environ cent, et, oh! je pense septante ou quatre-vingt livres, [77 ou 81,6 kg] et cette puissance démoniaque...

            Avez-vous déjà vu une personne possédée d’une puissance démoniaque? Elle devient quatre ou cinq fois plus forte. Eh bien, si le diable peut vous rendre quatre fois plus fort lorsqu’il vous possède, qu’en est-il d’une personne possédée du Saint-Esprit? Quelle puissance Dieu peut-Il vous donner? Voyez?

25        Et alors,... C’est la raison pour laquelle vous avez peur, vous qui êtes infirme. N’ayez pas peur. Jetez ces béquilles, tenez-vous debout et partez. Dieu est avec vous. S’Il vous a oint, Il vous l’accordera. C’est juste. Soyez oint du Saint-Esprit.

            Et alors, lorsque cette femme m’a tiré brusquement comme cela, j’ai failli tomber. J’ai lancé mon... pied comme cela et je l’ai tenue juste à la poitrine comme ceci. J’ai tenu... Et cela a dégagé ma main des siennes.

            Eh bien, je–j’ai vite reculé vers le–l’escalier. Il a dit: «Je vous l’avais dit, Frère Branham.» Et elle s’est mise à produire un bruit très drôle, elle faisait: «Hee-hee, uhh-uhh [Frère Branham illustre.–N.D.E.]» Et elle s’est mise à ramper comme un serpent sur son dos, c’était vraiment... Vous pouviez l’entendre se traîner, vous savez, elle se traînait tout simplement, comme cela sur le plancher, sur le béton comme cela.

            Elle s’est mise contre le mur, elle a mis ses grandes et puissantes jambes contre le mur, et elle a donné un coup comme cela, et alors, elle a heurté un–un siège, et sa tête a heurté comme cela. Et cela... Il y avait un siège là, où les gens s’asseyaient avant qu’elle soit amenée là.

26        Et cela a brisé le siège, le banc, les cheveux se sont arrachés et le sang a coulé de sa tête. Elle s’est mise à produire un bruit très drôle, elle a soulevé la chose de sa main comme cela et l’a lancée sur son mari, et cela a détaché le plâtre du mur en cognant juste à côté de l’endroit où il se tenait.

            Il a dit: «Vous voyez, Frère Branham, a-t-il dit, maintenant tout espoir a disparu.» Il a dit: «Que puis-je faire?» Et il... Le pauvre homme s’est mis à pleurer, il m’a entouré de ses bras comme cela, il portait une vieille salopette rapiécée. J’ai vraiment eu pitié de cet homme.

            Et j’ai dit: «Eh bien, frère, écoutez: la seule chose que je sache vous dire, c’est que cet ange qui m’a rencontré m’a dit que si je suis sincère, et que j’amène les gens à croire pendant que je prie, qu’Il guérira les malades.» J’ai dit: «Croyez-vous, que la simple foi pour croire que Jésus-Christ est le Fils de Dieu chassera les démons? Et Il–Il est monté au Père maintenant, et Il est ici sous la forme du Saint-Esprit.» J’ai dit: «Je crois qu’Il est le même Jésus aujourd’hui qu’Il était autrefois.» J’ai dit: «Je ne dois pas vous dire ce qui ne va pas. Vous savez ce qui ne va pas.»

            Il a dit: «C’est juste.»

27        J’ai dit: «Croyez-vous que si je le demandais à Dieu, Dieu le fera?»

            Il a dit: «Oui.» Et à ce moment-là, elle s’est retournée sur son dos.

            Elle a dit: «William Branham, tu n’as rien à faire avec moi. Je l’ai amenée ici», elle venait vers moi en rampant.

            Eh bien, son mari s’est retourné, il a dit: «Qu’est-ce que c’est?» Il a dit: «Cette femme ne connaît même pas son propre nom.» Il a dit: «Elle n’a pas dit un seul mot depuis deux ans.»

            J’ai dit: «Ce n’était pas elle. C’était ce démon. Voyez-vous? C’est ce démon. Il sait qu’il va devoir quitter cette femme si seulement vous croyez au Seigneur Jésus-Christ, maintenant même.»

            Et il continuait d’appeler comme cela: «Tu n’as rien à faire avec moi. Je l’ai amenée ici.»

            Alors, j’ai dit: «Maintenant, êtes-vous d’accord avec moi?»

            Il a dit: «Oui.»

            J’ai dit: «Père céleste, au Nom de Ton Fils Jésus-Christ, fais que ce démon quitte cette femme.»

            Alors, elle n’a plus parlé. Elle... Il a dit: «Que dois-je faire?»

            J’ai dit: «Ramenez-la après que le service sera terminé. Si vous croyez, cela doit arriver.»

            Il a dit: «Très–très bien.»

28        Alors, environ trois mois après cela, j’étais ici à–à Jonesboro. Et j’ai vu quelqu’un là, derrière en train d’agiter la main. Et j’ignorais qui c’était, qui était assis juste là comme cela. Et on me faisait signe de la main. Et c’était–c’était la femme en question, assise là.

            Elle a dit: «Ne me reconnaissez-vous pas, Frère Branham?»

            J’ai dit: «Non, je ne vous reconnais pas.» Tous ses quatre petits enfants étaient assis à côté d’elle.

            Elle a dit: «La dernière fois que vous m’avez vue, on m’a dit que je saignais partout et que j’avais perdu la tête.»

            Et le... Il avait ramené la femme, il n’avait eu aucun problème pour la ramener. Elle s’était calmée. Le deuxième jour, quand elle était dans l’asile... J’ai dit: «Qu’on la renvoie chez elle.»

            Alors, le deuxième jour, ils sont allés la voir, et elle était assise. Le troisième jour, on lui a fait signer une décharge à l’hôpital, on l’a renvoyée chez elle, étant dans son bon sens. Voyez? C’est juste. Jésus-Christ est le même hier, aujourd’hui et éternellement.

            N’est-ce pas beau? Mais ai-je du temps pour donner un autre petit témoignage?

29        Ma femme n’avait jamais assisté à l’une des réunions. Alors, je l’ai envoyée chercher pour qu’elle vienne. J’étais tellement seul. Et alors, elle est venue. Et frère Reed... C’était à Jonesboro. Et Richard, T. Richard Reed pourrait vous donner le témoignage de ceci.

            Le vieux Bible Hour Tabernacle béni, il en est le pasteur, là à Jonesboro, dans l’Arkansas, si vous aimeriez avoir ce témoignage.

            Et ensuite, je me souviens, ce soir-là, lorsque nous avons commencé la réunion, il y avait des gens dans la rue sur une distance de trois pâtés de maisons, vous ne pouviez pas... Les policiers étaient là, ils laissaient tout simplement les gens s’entasser comme cela et bloquer les issues. Et cela empêchait un...

            Et ma femme a dit: «Tous ces gens sont-ils venus pour t’entendre, chéri?»

            J’ai dit: «Non, chérie, ils viennent voir Jésus.» Et la petite s’est tenue là. Elle est très timide, elle me tenait à la main en pleurant. Et elle chantait ce cantique:

            Oh! ils viennent de l’Est et de l’Ouest,

            Ils viennent de lointains pays, (Vous avez entendu cela.)

            Pour fêter avec le Roi, dîner comme ses convives.

            Combien ces pèlerins sont bénis!

30        Et elle se tenait là, chantant cela pour moi. Et alors, les huissiers se sont avancés et ils ont dit: «Frère Branham, les gens attendent.» Et alors... Je n’ai jamais su ce qui lui est arrivé.

            Et ils m’ont fait entrer dans la salle. Et juste au moment où j’y entrais, il m’est arrivé de baisser les yeux. Oh! il y avait des civières, des ambulances, et tout posés là. Et il y avait deux infirmières à côté d’une jeune fille ici. Elle avait la tuberculose.

            Et je–je pouvais tout simplement sentir que quelque chose allait se produire juste là. Et pendant que j’observais cela, il y avait un homme qui se tenait de ce côté-ci en uniforme bleu, qui agitait sans cesse son chapeau.

            J’ai dit: «Est-ce à moi que vous essayez de parler, monsieur?»

            Il a dit: «Oui, monsieur.»

            Il a dit: «Je–j’ai un cas par ici qui est... et–et elle se meurt. Et je pense qu’elle est déjà morte.» Il a dit: «Je ne peux trouver de médecin nulle part.» Et il a dit: «Nous avions un médecin là-bas, juste un interne.» Et il a dit: «Je pense qu’elle est déjà morte.» Et il a dit: «Voulez-vous venir la voir?»

            J’ai dit: «Frère, il y a probablement deux mille personnes qui se sont amassées là-bas.» J’ai dit: «Je ne crois pas que je saurais le faire.»

            Et–et quatre ou cinq huissiers se sont arrêtés et ont dit: «Eh bien, nous allons vous aider à parvenir là-bas.»

            Nous sommes partis, et nous sommes allés vers l’ambulance là où... Oh! il y avait environ huit ou dix ambulances garées, en file. Et c’était une grande ambulance.

31        Cet–cet homme m’a parlé, disant: «Un homme a été guéri ce matin, un aveugle, il était aveugle depuis dix ans. Et on a prié pour lui, on lui a dit qu’il allait recouvrer la vue. Et en rentrant chez lui ce matin-là, ses yeux se sont ouverts.» Et son... Il roulait dans une vieille Ford modèle T sur ces routes accidentées de l’Arkansas. Il s’est mis à crier. On a arrêté la voiture, et il s’est mis à tourner autour de la voiture en criant. Il est entré dans la ville en courant, Kennet, ou une autre petite ville là, dans le Missouri, ce genre de petite ville où on trouve un cimetière de tireurs, là, dans le Missouri.

            Et il a couru, il est entré dans une église, dans une Eglise catholique, et il s’est mis à témoigner, et on l’a jeté dehors. Et–il avait suspendu son chapeau à sa canne noire ou plutôt à sa canne blanche, son chapeau noir, il descendait les rues criant à tue-tête. Il avait été un cordonnier là-bas.

            Il descendait la rue, en criant et en louant Dieu. Il est entré dans une Eglise méthodiste. Ha-ha. On l’a jeté dehors. On ne savait pas... Il avait réveillé toute la ville. Eh bien, je vous assure, il était... Et tous ceux qui étaient dans les hôpitaux voulaient venir pour que l’on prie pour eux.

            Alors, l’ambulancier a dit: «Je dois rentrer.» Et il a dit: «Je–je dois...» Alors, nous sommes entrés là à l’intérieur, et lorsqu’il...

            J’ai dit: «Eh bien, maintenant ouvrez simplement la porte.» Nous sommes entrés et un vieux papa typique se tenait là, son vieux chapeau cousu à l’aide d’une ficelle, le fil d’emballages, vous connaissez, tout autour...

32        Ces gens de l’Arkansas sont pauvres au possible. Mais, frère, sous ces vieilles chemises bleues battent de très braves coeurs fidèles, remplis du Saint-Esprit. Oui, oui. Je préférerais en avoir un avec moi tout le temps, plutôt que d’avoir peut-être un filou au col retourné vers l’arrière, auquel je ne pourrais pas faire confiance aveuglément. Oui, vraiment, oui, vraiment.

            Juste... Je vous le dis, cette vieille religion à l’ancienne mode, frère, elle vous redresse. C’est juste. Cela amènera une–une–une femme vêtue de soie et une vêtue de calicot à l’étreindre l’une l’autre, et à s’appeler «soeur». Est-ce juste? Cela amènera un homme vêtu d’un smoking et un autre vêtu d’une salopette à s’appeler «frère». C’est ce que ça fera, frère.

            Cela vous purifiera. Cela ne changera rien pour vous. Cela détruira ce moi, notre formalisme et notre orgueil.

33        Et alors, ensuite je–je me souviens que je suis entré là, et il portait des chaussures aux semelles usées. Il s’est agenouillé en criant: «Ô Dieu, rends-la moi, ô Dieu.» Le pauvre vieil homme. Il m’est arrivé de penser à mon propre vieux papa lorsque je l’ai vu s’agripper à ce chapeau comme cela.

            J’ai dit: «Qu’est-ce qu’il y a, papa?»

            Il a dit: «Qui êtes-vous?»

            Et j’ai dit: «C’est moi frère Branham.»

            Il a dit: «Oh! Frère Branham, a-t-il dit, la mère est une femme très douce.» Et il a dit: «Je l’ai perdue, j’en suis certain.»

34        Et j’ai dit: «Eh bien, qu’est-ce qu’il y a?» Alors, j’ai pris la main de la femme. Et ses yeux étaient alors fixes, mais je ne pensais pas qu’elle était morte. Voyez-vous? Ses fausses dents avaient été enlevées, et elle était couchée. C’est comme si une eau boueuse sortait de ses yeux. Et ses yeux étaient révulsés. C’était une très vieille femme, elle n’était pas très vieille, mais elle avait dépassé l’âge moyen, je dirais qu’elle avait soixante-huit, ou soixante-dix ans ou quelque chose comme cela.

            Alors, elle était couchée là et–comme cela. Et j’ai dit... Et je l’ai touchée. Son front était moite de transpiration. Et il a dit: «Elle vient d’arrêter de respirer il y a quelques instants, Frère Branham.» Il a dit: «Oh! c’était une bonne femme.» Il a dit: «Elle a labouré ces mottes de terre et elle m’a aidé à assurer notre subsistance.» Il a dit: «Nous avons élevé une ribambelle d’enfants.» Et il a dit: «Elle a attrapé ce cancer.» Et il a dit: «Le médecin a travaillé fidèlement. Il a fait tout ce qu’il pouvait.» Ça se trouvait dans les glandes féminines. Il a dit: «Il ne peut plus rien faire.» Il a dit: «Nous avons vendu ses couvertures pour que l’ambulance nous amène ici», les couvertures qu’elle avait fabriquées.

35        Je me suis dit: «Ô Dieu.» J’ai dit: «Eh bien, prions, frère.» Et j’ai tenu sa main. Et j’ai dit: «Père céleste...» Je voulais faire une prière pour le consoler. Je confesserai cela. Je pensais que cette femme était morte.

            Et alors,... je... Et pendant que je priais, j’ai senti quelque chose s’accrocher à ma main. Le diable m’a dit, il a dit: «C’est simplement la chair, tu sais. Elle est déjà morte et ce sont seulement les nerfs qui se contractent.» Et j’ai continué de prier un petit peu, et j’ai senti cela se contracter encore. J’ai regardé. J’ai continué de prier. Mais je la regardais.

            Et le vieil homme était à genoux sur le plancher en train de crier: «Ô Dieu, rends-moi maman.»

            Et je tenais ses mains comme cela. Et ensuite, il m’est arrivé de regarder encore. Et j’ai vu la–la peau de son front se rider.

            Elle a levé les yeux vers moi. Elle a dit: «Qui êtes-vous?»

            Et j’ai dit: «Je suis frère Branham.»

            Elle a dit: «Eh bien, nous sommes venus pour que vous priiez pour moi.»

            Et j’ai dit: «Oui, madame.»

            Elle a dit: «Je me sens si bien.»

            J’ai dit: «Voulez-vous vous redresser?»

            Et à ce moment-là, il a regardé. Et ce vieil homme m’a regardé et il a crié: «Mère, mère, mère!» Les larmes coulaient sur ses pauvres joues barbues. Et il–il l’a saisie en quelque sorte, et ils se sont mis à s’étreindre et à s’embrasser.

            Et oh! trois ou quatre mois plus tard, elle était là-bas dans la réunion témoignant, elle était tout feu tout flamme avec ce témoignage.

36        Alors, je me suis mis à sortir et le huissier a dit: «Eh bien, Frère Branham, vous ne saurez pas sortir.» Il a dit: «Des milliers de gens se sont amassés ici.»

            Et alors, j’ai dit: «Bien, voulez-vous tout simplement faire comme si vous enleviez votre veste maintenant, ils ne vont pas me remarquer et je vais sortir en me glissant de cet autre côté. Et envoyez ces huissiers tout autour. Personne ne me connaît là, dans ce parking.» Beaucoup de gens se tenaient là; et il pleuvait, il pleuvait à verse. Les gens se tenaient là malgré tout, tenant des journaux au-dessus de leurs enfants et tout comme cela. Ils étaient restés couchés dans les rues depuis cinq ou six jours de suite, comme cela. Ils s’étendaient sous les camions qui transportent du coton, tout ce qu’ils pouvaient trouver... Les gens aiment le Seigneur. Ils viennent à l’église. Frère, ils L’aiment et ils croient en Lui.

            Et alors, j’étais... j’ai fait un détour et je suis allé à l’arrière, comme cela. Il s’est mis à... Ça semblait hypocrite de faire cela. Mais je ne pouvais pas aller là où il y avait tout ce monde. Et ces pauvres gens se seraient tout simplement rués sur vous. Alors, il s’est mis à ôter sa veste comme ceci. Et je me suis glissé par la porte et je suis sorti, j’ai traversé cette rangée d’ambulances, je me suis mis à monter là.

37        Il y avait... Il y avait de grands projecteurs derrière cet endroit. Et il y avait un groupe de bus charter garés comme cela. Et je traversais là en poussant les gens, vous savez, comme ceci. Et personne ne me connaissait; personne ne m’avait encore vu, parce qu’ils n’avaient pas la possibilité de s’approcher du bâtiment. Les gens restaient juste là dans ce bâtiment; ceux qui étaient à l’intérieur, conservaient leur place. Alors, ils envoyaient quelqu’un dehors leur acheter des sandwiches, ou quelqu’un gardait leur place pendant qu’ils devaient sortir et revenir, vous savez. Ils gardaient leur place.

            Alors, je–je pensais pendant que j’allais là. Quelqu’un ne cessait de dire: «Arrêtez de pousser. Arrêtez de pousser.»

            J’ai dit: «Excusez-moi.» J’ai simplement continué, de pousser, vous savez. J’ai poussé sur le côté un homme de très grande taille, il se tenait là en train de tailler quelque chose avec son couteau. Et j’ai poussé juste en dessous de lui comme cela.

            Il a dit: «Arrêtez de pousser!»

            Je–j’ai arrêté de pousser, car je craignais qu’il puisse pousser. Et alors, je–j’ai dit: «Excusez-moi, monsieur.»

38        Et je–j’avais les mains baissées comme ceci. Il a baissé les yeux vers moi d’une manière un peu sarcastique, vous savez, il a continué à tailler avec son couteau. J’ai dit: «Désolé.» Il n’a pas dit un seul mot, il a simplement continué à tailler. Oui, monsieur. J’ai regardé et je me suis dit: «Eh bien, je vais de nouveau pousser dans quelques minutes, dès qu’il va se mettre à penser à autre chose.»

            Alors, j’ai regardé autour de moi. Et alors, quelques instants après, j’ai entendu quelqu’un crier: «Papa! papa!» Je me suis demandé d’où cela venait. Ça semblait être la voix des gens de couleur du Sud. En général, tous les gens du Sud parlent de la même manière. Et il m’est arrivé de regarde; et j’ai vu sortir, du milieu des gens qui se tenaient derrière dans ce parking, une jeune fille de couleur; il y avait plus de gens là que ceux qui sont assis ici.

            Eh bien, là-bas, il y avait la loi de la ségrégation: les lois ségrégationnistes. Les Blancs et les gens de couleurs ne pouvaient se mélanger. Et ainsi... Je ne pense pas que c’est correct. Et c’est–c’est donc mal. Je ne dis pas cela pour témoigner du respect à nos amis de couleur qui sont ici ce soir, mais peu m’importe s’il n’y a personne ici. C’est mal. C’est juste.

39        Et moi, je suis du Sud, mais je–toujours est-il que c’est mal. Je suis un homme d’Abraham Lincoln. Je–je crois que–que Dieu nous a tous créés égaux. C’est juste.

            Ainsi donc... Et j’ai vu cette jeune fille venir, et–et j’ai vu que ses yeux étaient blancs de cataracte, aussi blancs que ma–ma chemise. Et elle était... personne ne voulait l’aider. Elle traversait simplement la foule en bousculant et en criant: «Papa! papa!» Comme cela.

            Et je me suis dit: «Pauvre créature.» Et je me suis dit: «Je crois que je vais aller là pour voir ce qu’elle désire. Personne ne me connaît.» Et j’attendais que ces huissiers arrivent au coin. Ils essayaient de passer au travers de la foule. Alors, je me suis rapproché de là où elle se trouvait. Et lorsqu’elle allait dans cette direction, moi j’allais dans cette direction. Alors, je me suis retrouvé juste devant elle. Et, ça semblait donc horrible de faire cela.

            Alors, elle s’est heurtée contre moi. Elle a dit: «Pardon.»

            J’ai dit: «Oui, madame.»

            Elle a dit: «Excusez-moi, monsieur», lorsqu’elle a entendu ma voix d’homme.

            Et j’ai dit: «Qu’est-ce–qu’est-ce qu’il y a?»

            Elle a dit: «Monsieur, j’ai perdu mon papa. Je n’arrive pas à le retrouver.» Elle a dit: «Je suis aveugle. Et je n’arrive pas à retrouver mon papa.»

            Et j’ai dit: «Eh bien, d’où viens-tu?»

            Elle a dit: «Je viens de Memphis.»

40        Et j’ai regardé, j’ai vu le bus charter garé là qui venait de Memphis. Et je me suis dit: «Je ne peux pas la ramener là devant ces huissiers... Si je n’arrive pas à le faire, je vais demander à l’un d’eux de l’amener là-bas.»

            Et elle a dit: «Je suis venue ici de Memphis.» Et elle a dit: «J’ai perdu mon papa.»

            J’ai dit: «Bien, je ne vois pas d’autres gens de couleur dans la–dans la–dans cette foule de gens.»

            Elle a dit: «Oh! voulez-vous m’aider à aller jusqu’au bus?»

            Et j’ai dit: «Pourquoi es-tu venue ici?»

            Elle a dit: «Je suis venue voir le guérisseur.»

            J’ai dit: «Le quoi?»

            Elle a dit: «Le guérisseur.»

            Et j’ai dit: «Crois-tu cela?» Elle a dit... Je me disais que j’allais très bien tester sa foi, vous savez.

            J’ai dit: «Crois-tu cela?»

            Elle a dit: «Oui, monsieur, je le crois.»

            Et j’ai dit... Eh bien, je me suis senti petit, vous savez. Alors, j’ai dit: «Eh bien, crois-tu que dans ces jours où nous avons tous ces très bons médecins et hôpitaux, que Dieu a envoyé un ange sur terre et qu’Il guérira les gens?»

            Elle a dit: «Oui, monsieur, je le crois.»

            J’ai dit: «Comment en as-tu entendu parler?»

41        Elle a dit: «J’ai entendu ce matin à la radio qu’un homme ici à Kennett, dans le Missouri, qui était aveugle depuis dix ans a recouvré la vue.» C’était lui qui témoignait à la radio. Voyez? Et elle a dit: «Je suis venue. Nous avons formé un grand comité, et nous sommes venus à bord de ce bus.» Et elle a dit: «On m’a dit que c’est la dernière soirée du guérisseur ici.» Et elle a dit: «Je ne peux même pas m’approcher du bâtiment.» Et elle a dit: «J’ai perdu mon papa. Je suis aveugle. Je–je ne sais simplement pas quoi faire.»

            Et j’ai pensé: «Pauvre fille.» Elle n’était pas... C’était une adolescente, elle pouvait avoir dix-sept, dix-huit ans. Et j’ai dit: «Qu’est-ce qui ne va pas?»

            Elle a dit: «Eh bien, j’ai la cataracte.» Et elle a dit: «Le médecin m’a dit que lorsqu’elles auraient mûri, il allait les enlever.» Mais elle a dit: «Maintenant, depuis qu’elles ont mûri...» Elle a dit: «Il dit qu’il ne peut pas les enlever, parce qu’elles ont enveloppé le nerf optique de mes yeux. Et s’ils les enlevaient, il devrait enlever aussi le nerf optique.»

            Et j’ai dit: «Crois-tu que ce guérisseur peut te guérir?»

            Elle a dit: «Oui, monsieur. Je le crois.»

            Et j’ai dit: «Eh bien, consulte un médecin.»

            Elle a dit: «Ils ne peuvent pas m’aider.»

            Et j’ai pensé à ce cantique de l’aveugle Fanny Crosby:

            Ne m’oublie pas, ô Doux Sauveur,

            Ecoute mon humble cri;

            Pendant que Tu appelles les autres

            Ne m’oublie pas.

            Et je me suis mis à penser à cela. Elle–elle a dit... J’ai dit: «Oh! tu ne crois pas à ce genre d’affaire, n’est-ce pas?» Je l’ai de nouveau interrogée.

            Elle a dit: «Monsieur, a-t-elle dit, je comprends que vous êtes un Blanc. Je crois que vous êtes un Blanc.»

            J’ai dit: «Oui, oui.»

42        Elle a dit: «Si seulement vous m’aidez à entrer là où se trouve cet homme qui prie pour les malades, je serai en mesure de retrouver mon papa après cela.» Oh! la la!

            C’était trop pour moi. Je me suis dit que j’avais fait assez longtemps l’hypocrite. J’ai dit: «Ecoute, demoiselle, maintenant garde... Reste tranquille.» J’ai dit: «Crois-tu que ce gars-là est un guérisseur?»

            Elle a dit: «Je crois que c’est Jésus qui est le Guérisseur.»

            J’ai dit: «C’est juste.» J’ai dit: «Mais je suis frère Branham.»

            Elle a dit: «Est-ce vous ce guérisseur?»

            Et j’ai dit: «Non, non.» Elle m’a carrément saisi par le revers de la veste, comme cela.

            Elle a dit: «Est-ce–est-ce–est-ce vous ce guérisseur?»

            J’ai dit: «Non, tu as dit que c’est Jésus qui est le Guérisseur.»

            Elle a dit: «Oui, monsieur. Mais–mais–mais–mais–mais est-ce vous le–le–le–le–le pasteur Branham?»

            Et j’ai dit: «Oui, oui.»

            Et elle a dit: «Oh! ayez pitié de moi, Pasteur Branham.» Elle a dit: «Seigneur, comment ceci est-il arrivé?»

43        Voyez-vous? Là dehors, comment cela a-t-il pu arriver? Dieu sait comment s’y prendre. Et j’ai dit: «Eh bien, si tu veux bien lâcher ma verste maintenant.» J’ai dit... Et je ne pouvais pas tirer cela. Non, non. Elle ne voulait pas me lâcher. Non, non. Elle me tenait bien fort.

            Elle a dit: «Non, monsieur.» Elle a dit: «Je pourrais vous perdre ici.»

            Et j’ai dit: «Non, je vais prier pour toi.» Voyez-vous?

            Et j’ai dit: «Donne-moi ta main juste une minute. J’aimerais tenir ta main pendant que je prie pour toi.» J’ai dit: «Incline maintenant ta tête.» Elle l’a fait. Et en priant, j’ai dit quelque chose comme ceci.

44        J’ai dit: «Ô Dieu bien-aimé, il y a quelque mille neuf cents ans, une vieille croix rugueuse était traînée à travers Jérusalem, effaçant les empreintes de pas ensanglantées du Porteur. En route vers le Calvaire, la grosse vieille croix, sur Ses petites épaules faibles qu’elle frottait, pesait tellement qu’Il est tombé sous le poids. Puis, vint Simon de Cyrène, un homme de couleur, qui l’a prise, il L’a aidé à porter la croix.»

            J’ai dit: «Seigneur Jésus, voici une de ses enfants ce soir, titubant ici dans le noir et dans l’obscurité totale. Elle ne peut même pas voir sa main devant elle. Seigneur, Tu sais ce que cela a été pour cet homme de décharger Tes épaules ce jour-là en T’aidant à porter cette croix.» J’ai dit: «Ô Dieu, Tu avais porté sa maladie à elle au moment où Tu portais cette croix là-bas. J’ai dit: «Je Te demande maintenant...» Et juste à ce moment-là quelque chose est venu sur moi; je savais que quelque chose était arrivé. Je savais que la chose avait disparu. J’ai attendu juste une minute.

            Eh bien, je me demande si frère Baxter vous a donné les instructions l’après-midi ici. Lorsqu’un démon... Vous voyez, une grosseur, c’est un démon. Et cela vit, cela construit des cellules. Et c’est simplement la vie qui quitte cela. Mais vous... Cela va se rétrécir. Et ensuite, après quelque temps, cela va gonfler et devenir plus gros qu’avant. Mais la vie en est sortie. Cela va vous quitter. Voyez?

45        Et si vous ne connaissez pas ces choses, vous ne pourrez certainement pas... Vous ne comprenez pas la guérison divine, eh bien vous–il est inutile d’essayer cela, parce que ce serait un essai de toute façon. Voyez-vous, si vous essayez cela comme cela...

            Mais si vous savez ce qui va arriver, alors votre foi est fixée. Alors, il vous faut tomber malade pour être guéri. Parce que cette grosseur est en vous et votre système sanguin doit prendre un ... Imaginez une grosseur de cette taille au-dedans de vous, et cela... Eh bien, cela est simplement pourri, un morceau de chair comme cela qui est en vous... Bien sûr, vous aurez des fièvres et vous serez malade et tout.

            Certains pourraient dire: «J’ai perdu ma guérison.» Eh bien, c’est le meilleur signe au monde qui montre que vous l’avez obtenue. Voyez?

            Et alors, j’attendais que cette cataracte se rétrécisse afin qu’elle voie. Elle avait la tête inclinée. J’ai dit: «Maintenant, ne relève pas la tête. Et ne fais aucun bruit.» J’ai dit: «Si tu fais du bruit, alors...» J’observais si mes huissiers n’étaient pas encore arrivés.

            Alors, je–j’ai dit: «Maintenant, alors que tu relèves la tête, garde tes paupières fermées jusqu’à ce qu’il t’arrivera de penser être à la hauteur de mon visage. Et je te dirai quand ouvrir les yeux.»

            Elle a dit: «D’accord.» Et je lui ai donné le temps, puis elle a relevé la tête.

            J’ai dit: «Tu es maintenant presque à la hauteur de mon visage. Maintenant, est-ce que tu crois?»

            Elle a dit: «Oui, monsieur.» Elle a dit: «Il y a une fraîcheur qui m’a traversée complètement.»

            J’ai dit: «Maintenant, tu–tu peux voir juste un moment.»

            Elle a dit: «Oh! Seigneur», et les larmes coulaient sur ses joues noires comme cela.

46        Et j’ai dit: «Maintenant, ouvre tes yeux. Tu as reçu la vue au Nom de Jésus-Christ.» Elle a ouvert les yeux. Elle a dit... La lumière. Elle a dit: «Est-cela des lampes?» Elle a dit: «Qu’est-ce que c’est?» Voyez-vous? Cela n’avait pas encore beaucoup rétréci. Elle–elle n’arrivait pas à distinguer la lumière de l’obscurité. Mais cela rétrécit, (Vous voyez?), lorsqu’ils–le–la vie a quitté la cataracte.

            Elle a dit: «Que... Ces taches sont–sont–sont–sont-elles... Est-ce là des gens qui sont en train de se déplacer?

            J’ai dit: «C’est juste.»

            Elle a dit: «Oh! Seigneur, moi qui étais autrefois aveugle, maintenant je vois.»

            Et–et elle a poussé un grand cri, et elle a sauté comme cela.

47        Et à ce moment-là, je... Les huissiers arrivaient là, au coin. Je me suis mis à reculer comme ceci pour aller à leur rencontre. Et un vieux frère se tenait là, son unique jambe disposée comme ceci. Il tenait un gros bâton en main, il avait observé cette scène. Il se tenait là comme cela. Il a dit: «Frère Branham, je sais qui vous êtes.» Il a dit: «Je me tiens sous cette pluie depuis huit jours. Et il a dit: «J’ai une ribambelle de petits enfants à la maison.»

            Il a dit: «Voulez-vous bien demander à Dieu de me guérir?»

            J’ai regardé sa jambe. J’ai dit: «Depuis combien de temps elle est dans cet état?»

            Il a dit: «Une camionnette m’avait écrasé lorsque j’étais enfant.» Et il a dit: «Je dois travailler pour chi-... pour faire vivre mes enfants.» Il a dit: «Ça fait huit jours que je me tiens ici sous cette pluie.»

            J’ai dit: «Croyez-vous de tout votre coeur?»

            Il a dit: «De tout mon coeur, je crois que vous êtes un bon gars. Et tout ce que vous demanderez à Dieu, Dieu le fera.»

            J’ai dit: «Donnez-moi votre béquille au Nom de Jésus-Christ.» Et de même que je me tiens ici, comme un témoignage vivant devant Dieu, ce pied recourbé s’est redressé comme cela. Il a sauté comme cela, il est monté en l’air, en criant à tue-tête. Oui, oui.

            Et alors que je traversais là, les femmes à ce moment-là... Eh bien, ma mère est assise ici. Ma femme sera ici demain soir. Elle me réprimandera après que j’aurai dit ceci.

48        Quand j’en étais à mes débuts, je n’avais même pas un complet à porter. Eh bien, c’est–c’est vrai. Mon frère, qui était un jeune homme, avait connu un accident, et il portait un complet qui avait été déchiré; il avait été déchiré dans un accident d’automobile. Et il...?... pour commencer.

            Et je portais la vieille veste et le pantalon qui était déchiré à plusieurs endroits.

            Et Meda et moi, c’est ma femme, nous sommes descendus au bazar et nous avons acheté quelques-unes de ces pièces, vous connaissez, qu’on repasse à l’aide d’un fer chaud, vous connaissez? Et nous avons–nous avons repassé quelques pièces sur ce pantalon. Et la veste était déchirée ici à la poche du côté droit, elle était déchirée comme cela. Et je me suis procuré une aiguille et j’ai cousu cela. Et je ne suis pas un bon couturier. Alors, et j’ai cousu cela du mieux que je pouvais.

49        Et lorsque les ministres venaient, vous savez, bien habillés et tout, et qu’il fallait que je les accueille, ils disaient: «Frère Branham, voici Untel.»

            Je craignais qu’ils ne voient cette vieille–vieille poche déchirée. Et je gardais mon bras juste dessus comme ceci et je leur tendais ma main gauche. Je disais: «Excusez-moi, la main gauche est plus près de mon coeur.» J’ai dit... Je gardais ma main gauche comme cela, et cette vieille veste usée...

            Mais comme je descendais là, ces pauvres gens, alors que les richesses du monde... Oui, des cueilleurs de coton et ainsi de suite qui se tenaient là... Mais j’avais eu une vision là-bas et j’avais vu comment Jésus révélait les secrets du coeur. De voir comment Il faisait... Les gens avaient la foi.

50        Et ils se pressaient et prenaient leurs petits enfants, et ils touchaient cette vieille veste pour être guéris. Laissez-moi vous dire, pas une seule personne ne touchait cette veste sans être guérie. Eh bien, ce n’était pas la vieille veste usée, frère, c’était leur foi en Jésus-Christ qui les guérissait.

            Ce même Seigneur Jésus qui était là-bas ce soir-là est ici même à Chicago, dans l’Illinois, ce soir, ici au Gospel Tabernacle de Chicago. Et si vous touchez simplement Son vêtement par la foi, Il vous rétablira de tout ce dont vous souffrez. Le croyez-vous? [L’assemblée dit: «Amen.»–N.D.E.]

            Notre Père céleste, oh! lorsque je pense à ces glorieux jours inoubliables, pendant lesquels Tu as été miséricordieux et aimable envers les gens. Ils se rassemblaient par milliers et Tu les guérissais, si bien qu’on amenait de grands camions à bestiaux qu’on remplissait de fauteuils roulants, de civières et de petits lits de camp. Les gens marchaient dans les rues en chantant: Crois seulement.

            Sur l’autre rive du Jourdain, un de ces jours lorsque nous nous assoirons là, nous rencontrerons beaucoup d’entre eux, nous parlerons de ces glorieuses choses que Tu as accomplies ici sur terre. Et mon coeur retourne en arrière ce soir, pensant à cette soirée où cette jeune fille de couleur qui se tenait là avait recouvré la vue. Des années plus tard, je l’ai de nouveau rencontrée, elle était une serveuse, travaillant...

            Ô Dieu, combien je suis reconnaissant dans mon coeur que Tu sois le Seigneur Jésus ressuscité! Et ce soir, ce vieux monde que des secousses mettent en pièces est troublé de partout, le monde entier est nerveux, les bombes atomiques et les bombes à hydrogène sont suspendues au-dessus de nous. De dangereux ennemis, Seigneur, qui en ont vraiment, ils pourraient détruire cette nation tout entière en une seule nuit, le monde chancèle...

51        Oh! mais ô Dieu regarde là-bas là, Toi qui es mort là-bas au Calvaire, Tu nous as rachetés et nous as accordé Tes bénédictions. Et, ô Dieu, le feu de la bombe atomique ne peut pas être libéré ici maintenant. En deux minutes, nous serons dans Ta Présence, nous nous tiendrons là-bas, rendus semblables à Lui, en tant que Ses fils et Ses filles pour vivre avec Lui dans les âges sans fin. Rien ne peut nous nuire. Toutes choses concourent au bien de ceux qui T’aiment.

            Et, Père, beaucoup de Tes enfants malades sont ici ce soir. Je Te prie de les guérir tous. Et lorsqu’ils quitteront cette salle ce soir, qu’ils partent en se réjouissant et étant heureux, et qu’ils soient guéris de toutes leurs infirmités. Et qu’il n’y ait pas une seule personne faible parmi nous. Accorde-le, Seigneur.

            Que quelque chose de spécial se produise ce soir: Juste quelque chose là, qui fera que le Saint-Esprit descende sur les gens de telle manière qu’ils ne pourraient pas s’empêcher de recevoir cela, Seigneur. Accorde-le. Et qu’ils aient une profonde compréhension; ouvre leurs coeurs et leur entendement, Seigneur, pour qu’ils comprennent que ces choses sont seulement pour la gloire de Dieu et pour l’édification de l’Eglise de Dieu, que Jésus-Christ a acquise par Son propre Sang. Car nous le demandons en Son Nom. Amen.

52        Quelle série de cartes de prière avez-vous, B? Très bien. Je n’ai pas pu demander à Billy ce soir. Mais lui et frère Baxter se tenaient là pour me prendre lorsque nous sommes arrivés. J’étais en retard. Il a dit qu’il a distribué les cartes de prière de la série B.

            Très bien. N’alignons pas trop de gens à la fois. Ecoutez, si une seule personne dans cette salle... La Bible a été prêchée. C’est ce qui vient en tout premier lieu, juste ici. Cela doit être AINSI DIT LE SEIGNEUR. Et si Dieu l’a dit, cela règle la question.

            Souvenez-vous, la Parole de Dieu vaincra Satan n’importe où, n’importe quand. Dites simplement: «Il est écrit. Il est écrit.» Cela règle la question. Satan sera obligé de fuir. «Résistez au diable, et il fuira loin de vous.»

            Maintenant, voulez-vous que je vous dise la première chose avant que nous commencions le–pendant que nous sommes en train de former la ligne de prière? Voulez-vous que je vous dise ce que je pense être le problème de Chicago, le problème qu’ont les gens ici? Je vous dirai tout simplement ce que je pense. Je pense que vous êtes des gens charmants. Vous avez... Ceci c’est l’une des plus gentilles...

53        Lorsque j’ai commencé à prier pour les malades, il semblait y avoir un banc de foi qui se dressait juste là, au point que je ne sais pas prendre les gens, lorsque l’Ange du Seigneur... Je vois cela comme une Colonne de Feu, qui semble suspendue au-dessus de la personne. J’observe et je vois ce que Cela va faire. Et Cela s’ouvre. Alors, je vois de qui il s’agit. Alors, je baisse le regard et je vois ce qu’est leur problème, alors je vois qui est la personne. Voyez?

            Je ne peux pas le faire de moi-même. C’est exactement la personne qu’Il désigne. Ce n’est pas ce que moi je dis. Mais vous avez certainement une merveilleuse foi. Je peux sentir cela, et  je le crois. Mais voici ce dont vous avez peur, vous avez peur de libérer cette action. C’est ça. Vous avez peur de mettre votre foi en action. Voyez? Ne le faites pas. La foi sans les oeuvres est morte.

            Dites simplement: «Merci, Jésus. Cela règle la question. Je vais carrément de l’avant maintenant en croyant en Toi.» Voyez-vous? Et ensuite... Eh bien, ces signes...

            Je sais qu’on m’a accusé d’être un astronome, ou plutôt un diseur de bonne aventure, ou un démon, un... Oh! la la! il n’y a rien que l’on puisse trouver dans le dictionnaire dont je n’ai pas été traité.

            Très bien. Mais cela ne change rien. Ils ont appelé le Maître de la maison Béelzébul. Alors, je peux m’attendre à cela.

            Mais, mes amis chrétiens, je n’ai jamais professé être autre chose qu’un serviteur de Dieu. Je ne suis qu’un serviteur et rien que cela, un pécheur sauvé par grâce. C’est tout. Voyez?

54        Il n’y a rien au monde que je puisse faire pour vous aider, seulement par un... Maintenant, par la prédication je pourrais vous dire ce que dit la Parole. C’est ce que frère Baxter fait. Et puis, un... Par un don divin, si Dieu le permet, cela accomplira les oeuvres que Jésus faisait.

            Or, Jésus ne prétendait pas guérir les gens. Il a dit... Il faisait seulement ce que le Père Lui montrait. Mais Il saisissait les pensées des gens. Est-ce juste?

            Et si je vous disais que Jésus-Christ était un liseur des pensées, combien me croiront? Oh! très peu. Mais c’est ce qu’Il était. Oh! oh! Cela a rencontré une opposition, n’est-ce pas?

            Très bien. La Bible dit que Jésus (dans plusieurs passages) saisissait les pensées des gens. Combien disent que c’est vrai? Quelqu’un peut-il dire la différence qu’il y a entre saisir la pensée et lire la pensée? S’Il sait ce que vous pensez, que fait-Il? Ce n’est pas un de ces liseurs psychiques des pensées que le diable a par ici pour imiter, je parle de quelque chose qui est pour la gloire de Dieu. Oui, oui.

55        L’Urim Thummim, c’était quelque chose où les lumières brillaient sur un–sur un pectoral qu’Aaron portait, sur les douze pierres, ça brillait dessus comme l’Urim Thummim. Maintenant, le diable est allé se procurer une boule de cristal dans laquelle on regarde. Voyez? Le diable a un modèle de tout ce que Dieu possède. C’est ce que dit la Bible. Oui, oui.

            Alors, vous feriez attention, là! «C’est à leur fruit que vous les reconnaîtrez.» Le diable ne prêche pas l’Evangile et n’amène pas les gens à être guéris et sauvés, à accepter Jésus-Christ pour les baptiser et... Eh bien, certainement pas. Si c’est le cas, il est associé à Dieu.

            Jésus a dit: «Oh! eh bien, oh! si Satan chasse Satan, a-t-Il dit, alors son royaume est divisé.» Est-ce juste? «Personne ne peut faire un miracle en Mon Nom et parler en mal de Moi.»

            Lorsque les disciples ont dit: «Nous avons trouvé un homme qui chasse des démons, et il ne nous suit pas.»

            Il a dit... Jésus a dit: «Ne l’empêchez pas de faire  cela. Personne ne peut dire...et je... peut faire un miracle en Mon Nom et parler en mal de Moi.»

56        Maintenant, je sais qu’Il a dit: «Eh bien, en ce jour-là, a-t-Il dit, beaucoup viendront à Moi et diront: ‘Seigneur, Seigneur, je... n’ai-je pas chassé...’» Oui. Ils ont dit cela. Mais Jésus a dit: «Même si vous l’avez fait, Je n’en sais rien.» Ça, ce sont des imposteurs que vous trouvez (Voyez?) et qui ont simplement des prétentions.

            Jésus dit: «‘Seigneur, n’ai-je pas chassé des démons, et n’ai-je pas prophétisé en Ton Nom?’», des prédicateurs et tout.

            Il a dit: «Je ne vous ai même jamais connus.» Ils n’en savaient rien. Ils prétendaient simplement l’avoir fait. Mais cet homme qui chassait les démons faisait le travail. Il faisait vraiment le–le travail. Ainsi, Jésus l’a reconnu.

57        Ceux-ci ont simplement dit: «Oh! j’ai fait ceci, et j’ai fait cela.» Mais c’était faux. Ils–ils prétendaient tout simplement le faire. Jésus n’a pas reconnu cela. Mais au Nom de Jésus-Christ, voici la puissance.

            Très bien. Appelons à partir de... Prenons les vingt-cinq premiers. Qui a la carte de prière B-1? Carte de prière 1-B? Levez simplement la main où que vous soyez. Très bien. B–B-1? 59        C’est très bien. J’aime cela. Combien croient qu’il y a la puissance dans la musique? Il y a des églises qui ne croient pas au fait d’avoir de la musique dans l’église. Eh bien, c’est en ordre. C’est... Je ne vais pas discuter avec vous là-dessus.

            Mais écoutez, mon cher ami, une fois, il y avait un–des prédicateurs ou plutôt des rois étaient sortis et avaient fait une alliance.             La première commission qu’Il a donnée à Ses disciples, c’était de guérir les malades, de purifier les lépreux, de ressusciter les morts, de chasser les démons. «Vous avez reçu gratuitement, donnez gratuitement.» Matthieu 10. La dernière commission qu’Il a donnée à Ses disciples, c’était de guérir aussi les malades. Et Il s’intéressait à la guérison, n’est-ce pas?

            Or, après qu’Il a placé cela dans Sa Parole, et vous comme une chrétienne, toutes choses doivent concourir au bien, si vous êtes une chrétienne. Eh bien, et puis, si–si vous êtes malade, alors cela doit être pour une gloire. Cela doit être pour la gloire de Dieu. Cela ne peut être pour rien d’autre. Voyez?

Croyez-vous qu’Il va ôter cela de vous? C’est votre âge, et en ce moment, il n’y a probablement qu’un seul remède pour vous: c’est Christ. C’est une chose horrible. C’est la pire sensation que l’on puisse avoir. Il n’y a rien de comparable à ce sentiment de détresse. Voyez? Mais Jésus-Christ peut vous guérir.

            Et souvenez-vous, il n’existe pas de remède dans un livre de médecine pour cela. Pourquoi? C’est une oppression, une oppression démoniaque, c’est comme une ombre sombre qui est suspendue, cela vous met toujours dans cet état. Mais, Il vous guérira si vous pouvez croire. Croyez-vous? 77        Béni soit le Seigneur Jésus-Christ! Une vision est apparue juste ici. C’est quelqu’un qui est assis juste ici quelque part (je n’arrivais pas à bien voir le visage.), qui a un problème avec ses mains, c’est une sorte de–d’éruption sur les mains. C’est juste–juste ici quelque part. J’ai vu quelqu’un qui avait un... qui avait quelque chose sur les mains. C’est une éruption de sang. C’est de cela qu’il s’agit. Une maladie du sang ou quelque chose qui provoque un... Assis juste là. Oh! oui. Ce n’est pas étonnant que je... C’est... Que Dieu vous bénisse. Très bien.

            Maintenant, voulez-vous guérir de ce trouble cardiaque? Partez, en vous réjouissant et en disant: «Merci, Seigneur!» et soyez guéri. Amen!

Allez-vous croire que Dieu va vous guérir? J’ai entendu ce que votre médecin vous a dit. Partez et acceptez Jésus-Christ comme votre Guérisseur et vous obtiendrez cela. Que Dieu vous bénisse, mon frère, au Nom de Jésus.

            Amenez cet homme. C’est en quelque sorte un mauvais endroit là, n’est-ce pas? C’est la carpette qui est là. Oui, oui. Très bien. Nous sommes des inconnus l’un pour l’autre, monsieur. Nous le sommes. Je ne crois pas que nous nous soyons déjà rencontrés dans la vie. Mais Dieu nous connaît tous les deux, n’est-ce pas? Oui, oui. Il nous connaît. Bon, pour ce qui est de votre guérison, Jésus l’a acquise lorsqu’Il est mort au Calvaire. Je suis simplement Son serviteur, pour essayer de vous aider à avoir la foi. 79        Vous êtes gravement malade, monsieur. Vous avez été opéré. Vous avez été opéré pour un problème de la vésicule biliaire. Oui, monsieur. Maintenant, c’est... je regarde là les piqûres. Oh! la la! Tenez juste ici le côté de ce... Oui, oui. Lors de l’opération, on a trouvé autre chose, n’est-ce pas? [Un homme dit: «On a trouvé un cancer.»–N.D.E.] Oui, monsieur. Et c’était dans le–dans le système intestinal. Croyez-vous que Dieu vous guérira de cela? Vous croyez. Si je Lui demandais, allez-vous croire en Lui, alors il... cela devra arriver, n’est-ce pas?

            Maintenant, écoutez, monsieur, comprenez-vous que vous devez tout simplement... Le médecin vous a dit qu’il vous reste six mois à vivre. Est-ce juste? Savez-vous que d’ici quelques mois vous allez passer de l’autre côté, vous n’avez qu’un seul espoir, mon frère. [Un homme dit: «Cela m’importe peu si je ne peux pas guérir...?....»–N.D.E.] Certainement. [«Je suis prêt à partir.»] Mais que ferez-vous s’Il vous laissait vivre? Allez-vous témoigner de Lui et Le glorifier...?... Que Dieu vous bénisse. C’est de cette manière qu’il faut être. C’est de cette manière, Frère. Voyez-vous? Très bien.

            Maintenant, prions et demandons-Lui. Seigneur Jésus, le Fils de Dieu, alors que cet homme mourant se tient ici devant moi, confessant qu’il T’a accepté comme son Sauveur, Il croit en Toi, je Te prie, Père, de bénir cet homme et de le guérir. Et que les médecins soient surpris lorsqu’ils le consulteront de nouveau, en disant: «Que vous est-il arrivé, monsieur?» Alors, il Te rendra la louange et la gloire, car nous le demandons au Nom de Jésus-Christ. Amen. Que Dieu vous bénisse, mon frère. Que Dieu vous bénisse.

80        Dites, j’aimerais vous parler un instant loin du micro. C’est juste, voyez? Pouvez-vous arrêter cela? Abandonnez cela à Dieu. Que Dieu vous bénisse. Voyez-vous? Dieu a dû révéler cela. Que Dieu vous bénisse. Partez tout simplement en vous réjouissant.

Vous étiez en train de L’implorer et de prier, croyant que Dieu vous guérira, ayant la foi. N’est-ce pas juste? Très bien, monsieur. Il–Il vous a exaucé. Alors, ne vous inquiétez plus maintenant. Que la paix de Dieu soit sur vous.

            Vous qui êtes assis là avec ce problème de l’estomac, la deuxième personne là-derrière, si vous voulez aussi être guérie, croyez simplement en Dieu. Dieu vous guérira. La chose se tient juste au-dessus de vous maintenant, et il y a une table là où c’est... Je sais que vous refusez de prendre votre nourriture. Oui, mais... croyez-vous qu’Il vous guérit? Très bien, monsieur.

81        La dame assise là à côté de vous aussi? Oui, maintenant, croyez que Dieu vous guérira. Très bien. Dieu sera avec vous. C’est juste.

            Monsieur, vous êtes ici pour une cause très juste. Voulez-vous arrêter de fumer et partir, et que Dieu vous rétablisse et vous guérisse? Vous avez prévu de quitter cette ville ce soir, n’est-ce pas? Vous avez prévu de vous en aller. Dieu est ici pour vous guérir, et Il vous renvoie d’ici en vous réjouissant et étant heureux, si seulement vous croyez en Lui de tout votre coeur. L’acceptez-vous maintenant comme votre Libérateur?

            Dieu Tout-Puissant, que Ton Esprit vienne sur cet homme. Puisse-t-il partir d’ici et Te louer pour le reste de ses jours. Ô Dieu, accorde-le au Nom de Jésus-Christ. Amen. Maintenant, partez en vous réjouissant et en disant: «Merci, Seigneur.»

            Chaque personne qui est assise ici ce soir devrait être guérie maintenant même. Le crois-tu, jeune homme, assis là, dans le fauteuil roulant? Crois-tu cela? Croyez-vous cela, monsieur, assis là dans le fauteuil roulant? Tout le monde peut voir que vous tous... ce dont vous souffrez. Vous êtes infirme. Voyez-vous? C’est pour ces gens qui semblent bien portants que les choses sont mystérieuses.

82        Jeune dame, qu’en pensez-vous? Croyez-vous que Jésus-Christ vous guérira? Combien de malades y a-t-il ici, levez la main, dites: «Je crois que Christ me guérira maintenant  même.»

            J’aimerais vous citer un passage des Ecritures. J’aime faire cela. L’onction ne vous touche pas tellement en ce moment, parce que j’ai sauté quelques-uns là sans rien leur dire ou attendre une vision. Alors, je pouvais faire ceci à la fin de la ligne de prière.

            Il y avait une fois dans la Bible trois lépreux qui étaient assis à la porte, la ville de Samarie. La ville était assiégée par les Syriens. Et c’étaient des lépreux. Dans la ville, les gens tuaient les enfants les uns des autres, et ils mangeaient leurs enfants. Ils avaient mangé toutes les écorces des arbres et toute l’herbe du sol.

83        Et ces lépreux ont dit... Eh bien, les Syriens les avaient assiégés et les faisaient crever de faim. Alors, ils ont dit: «Pourquoi resterions-nous assis ici jusqu’à ce que nous mourrions? Eh bien, nous devons faire quelque chose. Maintenant, voyons, il n’y a que deux routes.» L’une d’elles conduisait à la ville.

            Il y avait trois choses qu’ils pouvaient faire. Ils pouvaient entrer dans la ville pendant que les portes étaient encore ouvertes, ou ils pouvaient rester là où ils étaient, ou bien ils pouvaient descendre au camp des Syriens. Eh bien, ils ont dit: «Si nous entrons dans la ville, il n’y a pas de nourriture là-bas, car les gens sont en train de manger les enfants les uns des autres. Alors, il n’y a pas de nourriture là-bas. Et si nous restons ici, nous allons certainement mourir. Alors, nous n’avons qu’un seul espoir; c’est-à-dire que nous allons descendre chez les Syriens. S’ils nous tuent, nous allons mourir de toute façon. Nous allons–nous allons mourir. Si donc nous descendons vers l’armée des Syriens, s’ils nous tuent, nous allons mourir de toute façon. Mais s’ils nous épargnent, alors nous vivrons.» Eh bien, ils n’avaient qu’une seule–une seule chance, c’était de descendre vers l’armée des Syriens.

84        Eh bien, quelle chance c’était: chez l’ennemi, et eux des lépreux! Vous n’êtes donc pas dans cette situation-là ce soir. Mais peut-être que vous êtes assis dans ces fauteuils, ayant le cancer, vous–vous êtes rongé par le cancer, la tuberculose, et ainsi de suite. Il n’y a rien sur terre que vous puissiez faire à ce sujet. Votre médecin a fait tout ce qu’il pouvait. La médecine, tout le monde a fait tout ce qu’il pouvait. Et si vous êtes assis là, vous allez forcément mourir dans cet état-là.

            Alors, faisons quelque chose à ce propos. Nous avons une chance ce soir. Et ce n’est pas de descendre dans le camp de l’ennemi, mais d’aller vers votre Bien-Aimé Père céleste qui a promis de vous guérir. Vous allez mourir de toute façon. Alors, allons et croyons Sa Parole.

85        Il pourrait vous sauver. Ce n’est pas qu’Il pourrait, Il va vous sauver. Il l’a fait. Il veut seulement que vous le croyiez et que vous appliquiez une petite foi. Pouvez-vous faire cela? Pouvez-vous croire ce soir pour toutes choses? Oh! mon frère, ma soeur, si vous pouvez seulement saisir ce qu’il y a là et dire: «Oui, Seigneur Jésus, je le crois.» Si vous le croyez assez profondément dans votre coeur, il n’y a pas assez de démons dans ce pays pour vous empêcher d’être guéri ce soir. Tout...

            «Les cieux et la terre passeront, mais la Parole de Dieu ne passera jamais.» Est-ce juste? Eh bien, Il a dit: «Tout ce que vous désirez...»

            Je suis obligé de surveiller l’assistance. Il y a des gens qui sont guéris juste pendant qu’ils sont assis juste ici maintenant. Après que je serai parti d’ici dans quelques semaines, vous continuerez à apprendre que les gens sont guéris, ils diront: «Eh bien, cela vient de me quitter. Cela vient de me quitter.» Cela se passe dans toute la salle maintenant même. Cela se passe chaque soir. Je le vois comme cela.

86        Si je me mets à regarder cela de près, alors, c’est tout simplement des visions qui se succèdent, l’une après l’autre. Et alors, je deviens si faible que je peux à peine continuer jusqu’à la fin de la réunion. Mais ce soir, vous et moi ce soir, levons-nous et disons: «Seigneur Jésus, je–je suis resté assis ici assez longtemps. Je viens à Toi ce soir, croyant de tout mon coeur que Tu vas faire cela pour moi maintenant même.» Allez-vous croire cela?

            Maintenant, je vous dis ce que vous–ce que je veux que vous fassiez. Je veux que vous incliniez la tête, partout. Maintenant, je vais prier pour vous. Et maintenant, croyez-vous la commission de l’Ange? Il a dit: «Si tu es sincère, et que tu amènes les gens à te croire, rien ne résistera à ta prière.»

87        Maintenant, écoutez mes amis, je pense au roi George d’Angleterre, lorsqu’il a été guéri de la sclérose en plaques, lorsque nous avons prié pour lui. Pensez à Florence Nightingale, sa grand-mère, c’est la fondatrice de la Croix-Rouge, elle pesait environ soixante livres [27 kg], elle était couchée là mourante d’un cancer gastroduodénal, elle était couchée là mourante. Une petite colombe a volé là dans le buisson et l’Esprit de Dieu est venu et a dit: «AINSI DIT LE SEIGNEUR, elle vivra.» Et elle pèse cent cinquante-cinq livres [70 kg] et est en parfaite santé.

            Pensez au sénateur Upshaw qui était cloué dans un fauteuil roulant et dans un lit pendant des années et des années, pendant soixante-six ans. Et juste en quelques instants, il s’est tenu debout, il a couru à travers la salle, il a touché ses orteils, il était parfaitement guéri et normal.

            Pensez tout simplement aux milliers et aux milliers de gens qui ont été guéris. Pourquoi devrions-nous rester assis ici jusqu’à ce que nous mourions? Faisons quelque chose à ce sujet.

88Maintenant, si Dieu peut respecter une prière... Je demande à chacun, ne priez pas pour vous-même, priez pour quelqu’un d’autre. Ne priez pas pour vous-même. Je vais prier pour vous. Vous, priez pour quelqu’un d’autre. Et ensuite, par une réprimande je vais ordonner au diable de quitter chaque personne ici. Je crois que tout celui qui croit en Jésus-Christ et qui L’accepte, Lui et Sa puissance de résurrection, sera guéri ce soir, juste ici. Vous pouvez accepter cela et rentrer chez vous et être guéri.

            Je veux que vous incliniez la tête. Seigneur Jésus, j’ai essayé de tout mon coeur, Seigneur, durant ces soirées passées pour expliquer, d’apporter aux gens l’amour de Dieu qu’Il avait pour eux lorsqu’Il a répandu Son Esprit dans leurs coeurs. Ce sont des gens aimables. Ils sont assis dans cette salle chaude en train d’écouter chaque soir.

            Mais, Seigneur, je comprends qu’il n’y a qu’une seule chose qui ne va pas: Satan ne cesse de les amener à se demander: «Eh bien, suis-je certain que c’est possible?» Je Te prie, Seigneur, de les bénir et de les guérir. Et que Ton Esprit soit sur chacun maintenant même. Et que l’ennemi lâche prise. Et que des femmes et des hommes, des garçons et des filles, ceux qui sont assis dans la salle maintenant, d’un commun accord, Seigneur, regardent à Toi pendant que nous prions les uns pour les autres.

89        Et je Te prie de briser l’emprise de Satan, ce grand esprit d’incrédulité. Ô Dieu, sachant que c’est lui qui cause l’opposition. C’est lui qui pousse les–les gens à faire défection. «Car tout est possible à ceux qui croient.» Et lorsque l’incrédulité existe, alors Dieu ne peut pas avoir la première place. Mais, ô Père, que le diable fuie ce soir. Accorde-le, Seigneur.

            Et maintenant, en tant que Ton serviteur, alors que je me tiens ici en représentant Tes souffrances, Ton sang versé et Ta mort à notre place au Calvaire, alors qu’Il était blessé pour nos péchés, et brisé pour notre iniquité, le châtiment qui nous donne la paix est tombé sur Lui, par Ses meurtrissures nous avons été guéris...

90        Seigneur Dieu, je crois cela, et je me tiens devant Ton peuple comme Ton représentant (Alléluia!), comme Ton ambassadeur. Et je dis à Satan ce soir: «Tu n’as plus le droit de retenir ces gens.» Ils croient. Dieu guérit leurs coeurs qui se soudent à Son Esprit. Et maintenant, je te réprimande, Satan, toi le démon qui fait souffrir ces gens. Sors d’eux au Nom de Jésus-Christ!

            Croyez-vous que vous êtes guéri? Si vous croyez, tenez-vous debout et louez Dieu et glorifiez-Le. Tenez-vous debout si vous croyez que vous êtes guéri. Tapez les mains. Dites: «Merci, Seigneur Jésus.» «Merci, Seigneur Jésus.» Très bien. Frère Boze. Que Dieu vous bénisse.

I'm sorry that I was late tonight. The manager called me up and told me to come a little early tonight. And I--I forgot about it. And I was just going ahead praying, and I happened to look up, and I think, "Well, here it's..." I looked at my watch and I said, "Well, my it's quarter after, I got to hurry."
And then here they was standing out there wanted to meet me when I come in. So they said they was going to dock me. So I guess that's fine. All right.

E-2 Well, we're happy to be here tonight. Very happy and sorry that the weather keeps on like this. But we understand that tomorrow or the next day, it's going to break, according to the weather man. I hope that he's right. But whatever, the Holy Spirit will meet with us just the same...?... He never fails us. And He--He will always be here just the same.
I love Him tonight. And I know you do too, don't you? [Congregation says, "Amen."--Ed.] So I'm very happy that everybody's in love with Jesus. And He's in love with everyone of us. That's the good part, isn't it? That He loved us before we loved Him.
When we were real ugly behaving and contrary to God, yet He loved us. I just... That's sounds bad, doesn't it, to think that...? Brother Ryan, I don't know whether I could suffer that very long or not, somebody being so ugly and different with me and still I love them.

E-3 Here one time, hasn't been too long ago I was having a meeting in--up in Ohio. And oh, the big arena was packed and we was just... I had to stay way out in the country at a tourist court. And we'd been eating at a little Dunkard restaurant.
Oh, it was the nicest people, and--and the people were so kind. And--and we appreciated them so much. And then Sunday, 'course they closed up. We had to go across the street, across the road, to a little place. It was a very worldly little place, had one of them little noisy juke boxes that everybody played.
Brother, the guy that'll take them out of the nation, I'll vote for him. I--I sure will. And all that there crazy music going on, and so as soon as I walked in over there, the first thing I noticed was a policeman standing with his arm around a young lady, playing a slot machine.

E-4 And that's illegal in Ohio to play a slot machine. But the law... Now, then the next thing I noticed was, looked back there and a young lady very indecently dressed, and sitting on the side of the table about half drunk, and some boys with her...
And looked sitting down to my right, there was an elderly lady about, oh, sixty-five, I guess. And she had a little very half nude clothes on, you know. And--and her lips was painted with blue-looking paint, and her toenails the same color. And uh, my, thought, "That's terrible."
And I begin to think, "Is my little Sarah and Rebekah going to have to be raised up in such as that? What will be the outcome?" I thought, "O God how can you stand to look at it? Looks like You'd just turn on and blow the world up."

E-5 And then while I was standing there looking at that, I was criticizing that woman. I was criticizing the officer in my heart. But I had never taken a seat yet at the table. And then just seemed like Something said to me, "Step over here to one side. I want to talk to you." That was my Boss.
And when I stood over there, and I begin to think like this. And it just seemed to come to me that--before me, not a vision, just a mental vision I'd call it.
Seem like I could see the world. And around the world was a rainbow. And that rainbow represented the Blood of Jesus Christ. And if that Blood would ever leave there, God couldn't look at the world a second. He'd destroy it. That Blood of Christ is the only thing that keeps the--the wrath of God off us tonight. Did you know that?
If it wasn't for that, there'd be no more world in five minutes from now. God cannot look in the face of sin. And the reason He can't see the world is because the Blood of Jesus Christ is a holding it off of sin.

E-6 If God can look in and see such a scene as that, it'd be finished. He--He's too holy. He couldn't stand it. Then... But the Blood of Jesus...
And then here's what come to me. I thought to see the Blood of Jesus, how it acted as a bumper, just like to the car. The car instead of he strikes, it'll hit the bumper and it, the--the bumper will protect the car. And I thought, "That's what the Blood of Jesus is. It's a bumper for our sins, that before it goes before God, it's--He catches it. It's a bumper."
And I thought, "Oh, my. Here I was criticizing that woman." I may not have did that. I may not have act like that policeman was acting, but yet, in the sight of God I was a sinner, just as bad as they was, just as bad as the woman setting there. Sin is sin. That's all. See?

E-7 No matter what your--your immorals are. You're a sinner. You're just a sinner.
And so, I thought, "Yes, and God would've destroyed me if hadn't been for the Blood of Jesus Christ, a keeping my sins from His Presence."
And then Something come to me and said, "Yes, I forgive you. But you want to condemn her."
I thought, "God, that's right. That's right."
I seen my sins then, and one day I crawled up to Him. And I seen an old Book laying there, had William Branham at the top and all kinds of sins wrote under it. And I said, "Lord, I'm--I'm so sorry that I've caused You all this bleeding," and His face sweating and blood running down.

E-8 And I said, "I was the one who did that. Will You forgive me?" And He took His hand and dipped it in His side and wrote on that old Book "pardoned," throwed It back behind Him in the Sea of Forgetfulness, never to remember it against me no more. That's right.
Now, He forgave me and I wanted to condemn her. That changed my attitude. I walked down there to the woman. I said, "How do you do?" There was two men with her, and they were very very bad acting. And so they just stepped out. And I walked down, and said I said, "Would you pardon me?"
And she's drinking. And she said, "Yes, sir."
I said, "I'd like to talk to you." I said, "I'm a minister."
She said, "Yes?"
And I said, "I am." I said, "Wonder if I could ask you a question. Why does this, be like this? Are you a mother?"
She said, "Yes, sir."
I said, "Why would you be drinking and things? May I ask if it's not into getting personal with you?"
Well, if you'd have heard the woman's story, it was a heart broken story. And she said, "I was once a Christian." Said, "If I'm not mistaken, aren't you Rev. Branham that was down there?"
I said, "I am."

E-9 And I told her what I'd just seen. I said, "I stood here and condemned you, and thought God ought to come in and tear the place up, with such as this going on. But I've changed my mind. God forgave me. And I want Him to forgive you." And right there at that seat, I led her to Jesus Christ. Amen. See?
It's your--it's your attitude towards things. Don't condemn others. If they do wrong, be good to them anyhow. Just look over those things. Because God's had to look over a whole lot for you and I. That's right.
God help us to have that attitude always in our hearts. You pray for me that I'll never look upon people like that no more. No matter what they're doing. That I'll always look up on them, that they're creatures of God. That God sent His Son to take their place.
And me as a minister, I'm grateful that He forgive me. And I want Him to forgive them also. That's the way we should do it.

E-10 In Isaiah the 30, 53rd chapter we read this.
Who has believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground: he has no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrow, acquainted with grief: and we hid as it was our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he has borne our grief, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquity: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has laid up on him the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he was brought as lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.
He was taken from prison from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: and for the transgressions of my people was he stricken.
And he was... made his grave with the wicked, and in the rich in his death; because he has done no violence, neither was there deceit found in his mouth.
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, and he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
May the Lord add His blessings to the reading of His Word. The prophet Isaiah getting a vision of what Jesus was, Who He was, and what He would do, and what a sin offering He would make...

E-11 It's awful warm tonight. So I believe instead of preaching as a I said I would. My preaching, and I'm not very much of a preacher. I'm just one of these old kind of sassafras we call it down in Indiana. You know. So you're too nice of a people to have to push that off on. So I'll just testify, and tell you something maybe that the Lord has did along our--our journey.
And now, I want to think of some of my early days. When I first started in the great campaigns, the meetings had a lot of tinsel then. 'Course everybody was running here and there, but now, 'course it's different than what it was then.
But Pastor Baxter, my brother, and I were talking the other day, thinking, said, "Look at the great things, what's happened, then look how it settles down." God gives a meeting and then He finishes up His things.
We think of Jesus Christ, when He was here on earth. His first years of His ministry, oh, the tinsel was hanging everywhere. The second year of His ministry, they had begin to accuse Him and call Him Beelzebub and so forth. The third year they killed Him.

E-12 See? That's the way it goes always. The first years of the Pentecostal church, it was wonderful. Right away there was a persecution come in the second year and scattered them everywhere. The third and fourth years they begin to find people, just a little bitty groups: like there was five men besides four or five woman; that was a church.
See how it is? It's always that way. Just God sends out a great gospel net, and He throws it... The Kingdom of heaven is like unto a man who went to the sea and threw in a net. And when he drew the net in, he had everything that--that wallowed in the sea. He had it in the net. He had fish; he had turtles; he had water spiders; he had serpents; he had everything.
Now, it's not our business as preachers to say, "This is fish, and this is that." We just pull the gospel net, and then it isn't long when you see a revival go on, many people get saved and praise the Lord. But see, some of those are fish, and some of them are, we'd say, turtles. It isn't very long till you'd say, "Well, I didn't believe there was anything to it after all." And here he goes running right on back into the puddle again.

E-13 The old water spider, you know. Plop, plop, plop: "Told you that wasn't right after all." Well, he goes back to the water.
And the serpent will start hissing and saying, "I don't like the way they do this things, sss-sss." Right on back to the water it goes. But there's some fish in there too. God knows. They're fish by nature; he's a spider by nature; he's a serpent by nature.

E-14 And God is the One Who does the election and the calling. And it's just our business to preach the Gospel. Is that right? God does the calling. One plants, another one waters, and God takes the increase.
I remember it was a very hard thing at first when I first started out preaching Divine healing. Oh, my. I remember what the bishop of the church told me. Why, he said, "Billy, you had a nightmare. You never seen no Angel."
I said, "I don't appreciate that, Brother Davis." I said, "No, sir. It... To me it's sacred. And it means a lots to me."
He said, "You mean you with your grammar school education is going to pray for kings and monarchs?"
I said, "That's what He said. It'll be that way."
Said, "Go on, Billy." And so.
I said, "No, I'll just give you my fellowship card while I'm standing here. Because I'm not going to be using anymore, I'm afraid."
So he said, "Oh, I wouldn't think that way."
But I said, "Well, it we just may as well." I said, "If God is sending me, there's going to be somebody out there who's going to receive it." That's all. God will never work anything here, but what He's got something working there. And do you believe that? Absolutely.

E-15 I was... Today I was thinking, and a man in his heart, as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Then I was thinking of how that the first beginning of the meetings, after I got started out, the--some of the events that happened, how people would have dreams and come to the meeting, how a great revival was in its making and stirring. And now it's just whirled out, went all around the world and everywhere. And tonight, even many of the Full Gospel churches are condemning Divine healing and saying, "There is no such a thing. It's witchcraft and everything," people who ought to be standing up for the--for the powers of God.
But you know what God does? He just sets that organization on the shelf and moves on just the same. Doesn't stop Him a bit. It's always...
All organizations will finally wind up over there in Babylon, just like the Bible says they will. And God out of the whole bunch... The very word "church" means "called out." "Come out from among them, My people, that you be not partakers of their sins." That's exactly right.

E-16 Now, I remember one time in Jonesboro, Arkansas. As one of the--the thrilling things that just come into my mind now. It happened on a night... I was having services at the--the auditorium. And there's so many people had gathered out there, till the paper said we had twenty-eight thousand.
Well, if the paper said so, they were all there, every one of them. And so they was for forty miles near Jonesboro. You couldn't even get a farm house. They had tent cities and everything, to--to take care of the people for the accommodations.
When they began to see the marvel of God's great power to reveal things, it was all new. They just went right out. But now they seen it so much till, "Well, Lord, if that's all you got. Well, I will wait for something else." Oh, my. That's people, isn't it? That--that's people.
But I remember I hadn't seen my wife for about two months or three. And I had a little girl, my first little girl, which is, they'll be on the road up here tomorrow. She's seven years old now. She's just a little bitty fellow when I left home.
And when I come back, she didn't even know me. I'd lost most of my hair, and I'd fell off a lot of weight, about twenty pounds and stoop shoulders. And her mother would tell her, say, "That's daddy. (My picture on the--on the dresser.)" Said, "That's daddy."

E-17 And when I come in one cold day and walked into the place... And we lived in a little two rooms. And my wife was in there, and we was talking and she... I said, "Where's the baby?"
Said, "Asleep in the next room."
So I went in to the little old crib. And I never will forget; I woke her up. And those big blue eyes looked at me you know and she was scared of me. That hurt me. And I... Mother picked her up and handed her over to me. She said, "That's daddy." She got back. That wasn't her daddy. She'd look over at the picture on the... Didn't look like her daddy.
So, well look, friends, I was preaching the Gospel. I was doing the best that I knowed how, as I'm doing tonight. Some glorious day it'll be different over on the other side when we all get home.
And I'd broke down. I was staying day and night in the platform, stayed one time for about four days and nights or more, without even leaving the platform, praying for the sick. And there were more people at the end of the meeting, many times more than there was when we started. And just no end to it, praying for the sick.

E-18 And great things were taking place. I remember one night there, there was a lady came up, she had her handkerchief like this. I thought she was crying. It was about three or four o'clock in the morning. And just as soon as I took a hold of her hand and was talking to her... I thought she was weeping.
I said, "Oh, lady, you--you got cancer, haven't you, on the nose? And she pulled it, the handkerchief back, and her whole nose was eaten off. And so... And I said, "Do you believe that Jesus will heal you?"
And she said, "I have just left Memphis." And she said, "The doctors told me over there the other day, there was no hope for me now. It'd done got such a straight start, rather till the radium or nothing would stop it."

E-19 And oh, I thought, "Isn't that... That sure is too bad." And just a little bit after that, why, I prayed for her. And about three or four months from then, I was over at Texarkana, and was in a little meeting there.
And the first thing you know, I seen somebody waving at me back there, and waving at me. And I didn't know who it was. This young fellow jumped up; he was an exterminator at there. And he--he raised up.
He said, "Brother Branham, I just can't hold it any longer."
And I said, "What's the matter, son?"
And he said, "This is my mother. Do you recognize her?"
I said, "No, I don't."

E-20 She said, "I was the woman who didn't have any nose about three months ago." She had another nose. God had healed her. It'd growed back. And I have her name and address and her testimony.
And the trouble, the thing was she was doctoring, she went back to her doctor. And--and she said, he said, "Oh, my."
She said, "What did it look like now?"
Said, "Why say." Said, "What's happened?"
She said, "I changed doctors."
Said, "Well, who did you go to?"
She said, "I went to Dr. Jesus."
He said, "Dr. Jesus?" Said, "Let's see. Where does He practice at?" Said, "I don't believe I..." My, isn't that something? Oh, my.
But many things happen along. I remember another night there that something taken place. I was at--at Little Rock and there was in a... Now, Rev. Mr. Brown... If you'd like for this testimony. Just write Reverend G. H. Brown, 505 Victor Street. V-i-c-t-o-r, Victor Street, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

E-21 We'd been praying and the, oh, the newspapers had give me the awfullest write up, saying that there was--that I'd blocked the... Had the ambulances out there. Said, "A Self-style nattily dressed Baptist preacher..." Oh, you never heard such in your life. I'm telling you.
So they said... And they had the street cars blocked off in the streets from the ambulances. And I'd been praying for about two or three hours.
And Rev. Brown come to me, which is one of the sponsors on the meeting. He said, "Brother Branham, when you get finished down at the bottom of the auditorium," he said, "there's a case like you never seen before."
I'd been praying for the sick then about three or four months, seen many things in that much time. And he said, "When you get a chance to take a little breath..." I was going to pray for them all night anyhow. Said, "Come down. I want to show you something like you've never seen before."
And I said, "All right." So after while I went down to the steps. And now, friends, when I got down...

E-22 I'm just telling these things for God's glory (You see?), for the glory of Jesus Christ, that you might know some of the things that's happened. Oh, millions of things, oh I wouldn't say millions, but many thousands of things anyhow has happened.
And I went down at the bottom of the steps. And there laid a lady, laying on the floor. She was dressed with like shorts. And she had both hands sticking up like this and her feet sticking right up, laying on her back, just laying there like that.
I said... There was a typical old Arkansas brother standing there, and he...
I said, "Is that your wife?"
He said, "It is, Brother Branham."
I said, "Why is her--her--her leg's bleeding like they are?"
Said, "Well..." Said, "She's from the insane institution." Said, "She was going through the time of menopause. And she had a baby born, and it threw her into a premature menopause. And the doctor give her some shots, and it went to her head. And so she went wild."
And he'd been in the insane institution two years. And he'd heard about from over in Mississippi a--a soldier's mother that'd been healed and taken out of the institution. So, he said,"I brought her."

E-23 Said, "Brother Branham, I've got four little children at home." And he said, "And I've--I've, we've sold our farm and everything," he said, "to--to try to get her well. And she's taking treatments."
And said, "Then today," he said, "I--I sold my mules." He said, "I had to bring her down here." And said, "They let me bring her out, just over the night." And said, "They couldn't get her in an ambulance. And I'd taken some brothers up there. And five of us got her out of the place and put her in a car." And said, "That's where she kicked all the glasses out of the car coming down, where five men couldn't hold her."
And when they got her in the building there. Brother Brown said she'd just taken the place. They'd just, she'd just throw men every way. So when they'd let her down though, she'd lay on her back and just throw her hands and feet up like that, her eyes set real glassy. And that's the way she stayed.
Why, I said, "That's too bad." I said, "I'll walk out and take a hold of her hand."
He said, "Oh, Brother Branham, don't you do that." Said, "She'd kill you."
Oh, I said, "I don't think so." And I... And it just a boy like on the way, so not having too much dealing with demonology.
So he said, "Brother Branham, I warn you. Don't do that."

E-24 And I said, "Oh, I don't think she'd hurt me brother." And I walked down a little step like that, walked out on the floor. And she was laying there with her hands up. I said, "How do you do, sister?" Took a hold of her hand. And just as I took hold of her hand, I... she just gripped down like that.
And she gave a pull like that. And she pulled me practically off of my feet. And she would've threw me across the room. And I... Why, she would've weighed about a hundred, and, oh, I guess seventy or eighty pounds, and that demon power...
Did you ever see a person possessed with demon power? They got four times their strength. Well, if the devil can give you four times strength when possessed with him, what about possessed with the Holy Ghost? How much power could God give you? See?

E-25 And then... That's the reason you're afraid, you people that's crippled. Don't be afraid. Fling away them crutches, and get up and start off. God's with you. If He's anointed you, He will give it to you. That's right. Be anointed with the Holy Spirit.
And then, when this woman, she jerked me like that. And I almost come off of my feet. And I threw my ha... foot like that and caught her right across the breast like this. I caught... And it pulled my hand out of hers.
Well, I--I ran back towards the--the steps again. He said, "I told you, Brother Branham." And she started making a real funny noise, going, "Hee-hee, uhh-uhh [Brother Branham illustrates.--Ed.]." And she started crawling like a snake on her back, just a real... You could hear dragging, you know, just drag, drag, like that across the floor, concrete like that.
And she got against the wall, put her great big strong limbs against the wall, and kicked like that, and when she did she hit a--a seat and her head hit like that. And it... There's a seat setting there where the people had been sitting in before they brought her there.

E-26 And it broke the seat, the bench it was. And the hair and blood come out of her head. She just started making real funny noise, picked up that thing in her hand like that and threw at her husband, and just knocked the plaster off the wall where it hit right by the side of where he was at.
Said, "You see, Brother Branham," said, "now all hopes is gone." Said, "What can I do?" And he... The poor old fellow started crying, put his arms up around me like that, old patched overalls on. I felt so sorry for the boy.
And I said, "Well, brother, look: the only thing I know to tell you that this Angel that met me told me that, if I be sincere and get the people to believe when I prayed, that He'd heal the sick." I said, "Do you believe that, the simple faith to believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, cast out devils? And He--He has gone up in to the Father now, and He's here in the form of the Holy Spirit." I said, "I believe He's the same Jesus today that He was then." I said, "I don't have to tell you what's wrong. You know what's wrong."
He said, "That's right."

E-27 I said, "Do you believe if I'll ask God, God will do it?"
He said, "I do." And about that time she turned around on her back.
She said, "William Branham, you haven't got nothing to do with me. I brought her here," come crawling up towards me.
Why, her husband turned, said, "What's this?" Said, "That woman don't even know her own name." Said, "She hasn't spoke a word in two years."
I said, "That wasn't her. That was that devil. See? That's that the devil. He knows that he's going to have to leave the woman if you'll only believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, right now."
And he kept calling like that. "You have nothing to do with me. I brought her here."
So I said, "Now, you agree with me."
He said, "All right." I said, "Heavenly Father, in the Name of Your Son Jesus Christ make that devil leave the woman."
So she didn't never talk no more. She just... He said, "What shall I do?"
I said, "Take her on back after service is over. If you believe, it's got to happen."
He said, "All--all right."

E-28 So about three months after that, I was up here at--at Jonesboro. And I happened to see somebody back there waving. And I didn't know who it was, sitting right out like that. And they was waving at me. And it was--it was the woman sitting there.
She said, "Don't you recognize me, Brother Branham?"
I said, "No, I don't." She had her four little children all sitting around.
She said, "The last time you seen me, they told me that I was bleeding all over and I was out of my head."
And the... He had took the woman back, had no trouble taking her back. She set up. And the second day, when she was in the institution... I said, "Let them dismiss her."
So the second day, they come to her and she was sitting up. The third day they give her a discharge from the place, sent her home in her right mind. See? That's right. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Isn't that nice? But I had just about a time for about another little short testimony?

E-29 My wife had never seen one of the meetings. And I sent for her to come down. I was so lonesome. And so she came down. And Brother Reed... This was at Jonesboro. And Richard, T. Richard Reed could give you the testimony of this.
The Blessed Old Bible Hour Tabernacle, he's the pastor of it, down in Jonesboro, Arkansas, if you'd like to get this testimony.
And then, I remember that night when we started the meeting, for three city blocks standing in the street, you couldn't... The cops was there, just letting them as they would pile up like that and block off the sides. And keep a...
And my wife said, "Did all these people come to hear you preach, honey?"
I said, "No, honey, they come to see Jesus." And the little fellow stood there. She's very backward, holding my hand crying. And she sang this song:
Oh, they come from the East and West,
They come from the land afar, (You've heard it.)
To feast with the King, to dine as His guests.
How happy these pilgrims are!

E-30 And she was standing there singing that for me. And then the ushers come forth and said, "Brother Branham, they been waiting." And so down... I never knowed what become of her.
And they got me into the building. And just as I got in there, I happened to look down. Oh, the ambulance stretchers and everything laying. There's two nurses by a little girl here. She had TB.
And I--I could just feel that something was going to take place right there. And while I was watching it, there was a man standing over on this side with a blue uniform, kept waving his hat.
I said, "Are you trying to talk to me, sir?"
He said, "Yes, sir."
Said, "I've--I've got a case out here that's and--and she's dying. And I think she's already dead." Said, "I can't find a doctor anywhere." And said, "We had a doctor there, just a house doctor." And said, "I think she's already dead." And said, "Would you come to her?"
I said, "Brother, there's probably two thousand people backed in there." I said, "I don't believe I could do it."
And--and four or five ushers stepped down and said, "Well, we'll help you get up there."
We started out, and got out to the ambulance where... Oh there was about eight or ten ambulances setting in the row. And this is a big ambulance.

E-31 The--the man told me said, "There's been a man had been healed that morning, blind, been blind for ten years. And he was prayed for, told him he was going to receive his sight. And on the road home that morning, his eyes come open." And his... He was riding an old Model T Ford up them rough roads in Arkansas. And he begin to scream. They stopped the car and out and around and around the car he went screaming. He run into the city, Kennett, or some little place down in Missouri, that little boot hill type of Missouri there.
And he run went into the church, the Catholic church, and begin to testify, and they throwed him out. And--and he had his hat hanging on his black cane like or his white cane, rather, his black hat, going down the street screaming to the top of his voice, used to be a shoe cobbler there.
And he was going down the street, screaming and praising God. He went into a Methodist church. Ha-ha. They throwed him out of there. They didn't know... He was taking the city. Now, I tell you, he was... And they had a everybody in the hospital wanted to come down and be prayed for.
So, the ambulance said, "I've got to go back." And said, "I've--I've got to..." So we got in there and when he...
I said, "Well, now you just open the door." We went in and a very typical old dad there, his old hat sewed with twin, wrapping string, you know, around...

E-32 Those Arkansas people are poor as they can be. But brother, under them old blue shirts beats some real good true Holy Ghost filled hearts. Yes, sir. I'd rather have one of them with me any time, than maybe a slicker with his collar turned around in the back, and I couldn't trust him out of my sight. Yes, indeedy, yes, indeed.
Just... I tell this old time religion, brother, it straightens you up. That's right. It'll make a--a--a silk dress and a calico put their arms around one another and call "sister." Is that right? It'll make a tuxedo suit and a pair of overalls call each other "brother." That's what it'll do, brother.
It'll clean you up. It'll make no difference in you. It tears down that self, and starch, and pride, that we've got.

E-33 And so, then I--I remember getting in there, and he had the soles of his shoes was out. He was kneeling down hollering, "O God, give her back to me, God." Poor old fellow. I happened to think of my own old dad when I see him gripping that hat like that.
I said, "What's the matter, dad?"
He said, "Who are you?"
And I said, "I'm Brother Branham."
He said, "Oh, Brother Branham," said, "mother's such a sweet woman." And said, "I've lost her, I'm sure."

E-34 And I said, "Well, what's the matter?" So I took a hold of her hand. And her eyes were set now, but I do not think she was dead. See? And her false teeth had been taken out, and laying down. And like muddy looking water would come down from her eyes. And her eyes were set right back. Real old woman, not real old, but passed the middle age, I'd say sixty-eight seventy, somewhere along there.
So she was laying and--like that. And I said... And I felt of her. Her forehead was sticky with perspiration. And he said, "She's just quit breathing awhile ago, Brother Branham." Said, "Oh, she's a good woman." Said, "She's harrowed over them old clods and helped to make me a living." Said, "We raised a bunch of children." And said, "She took this cancer." And said, "The doctor has worked faithfully. He's done all he could do." It was in the female glands. And said, "There's nothing more he could do." And said, "We sold her quilts to get the ambulance to bring us down here," the quilts that she had made.

E-35 I thought, "O God." I said, "Well, let's pray, brother." And I took a hold of her hand. And I said, "Heavenly Father..." I was going to pray for consolation. I'll confess it. I thought the woman was gone.
And so... I... And it was while I was praying I felt something grip my hand. The devil said to me, said, "That's just the flesh you know. Just she's dead and that's just the nerves twitching." And I went ahead praying a little bit longer, and I felt it twitch again. I looked. I kept praying. But I was looking over at her.
And the old man was down on the floor crying, "God, give me back mother." And I was holding her hands like that. And then I happened to look again. And I seen the--the skin on her forehead wrinkling.
And she looked up at me. She said, "What's your name?"
And I said, "I'm Brother Branham."
She said, "Well, we come down for you to pray for me."
And I said, "Yes, ma'am."
She said, "I feel so good."
I said, "Would you set up?"
And about that time he looked, and the old man looked at me hollered, "Mother, mother, mother!" the tears running down his poor old whiskered cheeks. And he--and he grabbed like her and they begin to hug and kissing one another.
And oh, three or four months later, she was in the meeting down there testifying, just shelling the woods with that testimony.

E-36 So I started to go out and the usher said, "Why, Brother Branham you couldn't get out." Said, "There's thousands of people that's banked in here."
And so I said, "Well, if you'll just act like you're taking off your coat now. They won't notice me and I'll slip out this other side. And you send them ushers around. Nobody knows me back there in that parking lot," just standing full of people, and it raining, just pouring right on down. They was standing out there anyhow, holding papers over their children and things like that. Been laying on the streets for five or six days at a time, like that. Laying under cotton trucks, anything they get... They love the Lord. They come to church. Brother, they love Him and they believe Him.
And then I was... went around the back of the place, like that. He started to... That looked like a hypocrite to do that. But I just couldn't get in to where they was all at. And the poor things just almost stampede you. So, he started taking off his coat like this. And I slipped out the door and went up, down through that ambulance row, come around in the back, and started in up there.

E-37 There was... Big flood lights was back in behind the place. And they had a bunch of chartered buses setting like that. And I was going along through there, pushing along, you know, like this. And nobody knew me; nobody had seen me yet. 'Cause they couldn't get near the building. They'd stay right in that building. What was in there, kept their places. And so they send someone out to get some sandwiches, or somebody hold their place while they had to got out and come back, you know. They was holding their place.
Then I--I was thinking as I went along there. Somebody kept saying, "Quit pushing. Quit pushing."
I said, "Excuse me." Just kept on, you know, pushing along. I pushed up beside of a great big tall fellow, standing there whittling with his knife. And I pushed right under him like that.
He said, "Quit pushing."
I--I did, because I was afraid he was going to push. And so I--I said, "Excuse me, sir."

E-38 And I--I stood with my hands down like this. He looked down at me kind of sarcastic like, you know, and kept on whittling. I said, "I'm sorry." He never said a word, just kept on whittling. Yes, sir. I watched, and I thought, "Well, I'll start pushing again in a few minutes when he gets to thinking about something else."
So I looked around. And so after while I heard somebody hollering, "Daddy! Daddy!" I wonder where that was. It sound like a southern voice of the colored people. Usually they all the Southerners talk a whole lot alike. And I happened to look, and coming out in the midst of people, more than there is setting here, standing in that back parking lot, was a young colored girl.
Now, down there they have a law of segregation: Jim Crow law. And the white and colored cannot come together. And so... I don't think that's right. But as so that's--that's wrong. I just don't say that for any respects for our colored friends here tonight, but I don't care if there's nobody here. That's wrong. That's right.

E-39 And I'm a Southerner, but I--that's still wrong. I'm a Abraham Lincoln man. I--I believe that--that God made us all the same. That's right.
So then... And I seen the girl coming, and--and I seen her--her eyes was as white with cataracts as my--my shirt. And she was... Nobody would help her. She was just pushing through the crowd hollering, "Daddy! Daddy!" like that.
And I thought, "Poor old thing." And I thought, "I believe I'll get over to see what she wants. Nobody knows me." And I was watching for those ushers to come around the corner. They was trying to get through the crowd. So I pushed up close to where she was. And when started this way, I'd get over this way. So I'd get right in front of her. And so that looked like awful to do that.
So she bumped right in to me. She said, "Pardon me."
I said, "Yes, ma'am."
She said, "Pardon me, sir." When she heard my voice of being a man.
And I said, "What's--what's the matter?"
She said, "Sir, I've lost my daddy. I can't find him." Said, "I's blind. And I can't find my daddy."
And I said, "Well, where you from?"
She said, "I'm from Memphis."

E-40 And I looked over, and I seen the chartered bus setting there from Memphis. And I thought, "I can get her back there before them ushers... If I can't, I'll let one of them get her over there."
And she said, "I come over here from Memphis." And said, "I lost my daddy."
I said, "Well, I don't see no more colored people in the--in the--this crowd of people."
Said, "Oh, will you help me to get to the bus?"
And I said, "What did you come over here for?"
She said, "I come over to see the healer."
I said, "The what?"
She said, "The healer."
And I said, "Do you believe that?" She said... I thought I'd test her faith right good, you know.
I said, "Do you believe that?" She said, "Yes, suh, I believe it."
And I said... Well, that made me feel little, you know. So I said, "Well, do you believe in the days of all these great fine doctors and hospitals, that God would send an Angel down to earth and would heal people?"
She said, "Yes, suh, I believes it."
I said, "How'd you ever hear about it?"

E-41 She said, "I's hearing this morning on the radio a man up here at Kennett, Missouri, that had been blind ten years and he got his sight." That was him testifying on the radio. See? And she said, "I's come over. We formed a big committee, and we come over by da bus." And she said, "They tell me this is the healer's last night here." And said, "I can't even get near the building." And said, "I've lost my father. I's blind. I--I's just don't know what to do."
And I thought, "Poor girl." She wasn't... She was in her teens, seventeen, eighteen years old. And I said, "What's wrong?"
She said, "Well, I got cataracts." And she said, "The doctor told me when they were ripe, he would take them off." But said, "Now, since they got ripe..." Said, "He says he can't take them off, because they're wrapped around the optical nerve of my eyes. And he'd take it out, he'd have to take the optical nerve with it."
And I said, "And you believe that that healer would heal you?"
She said, "Yes, suh. I believe it." And I said, "Well, look at the doctor."
She said, "They can't help me."
And I thought of that song of old blind Fanny Crosby:
Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.
And I thought of it. She--she said... I said, "Oh, you don't believe that kind of stuff, do you?" I questioned her again.
She said, "Sir," she said, "I perceive that you are a white man. I believe that you're a white man."
I said, "Yes, ma'am."

E-42 She said, "If you'll just help me in to where that man's at that's praying for the sick, I'll be able to find my daddy after that." Oh, my.
That was too much for me. I thought I'd been hypocrite long enough. I said, "Look, lady, now keep... Hold your peace." I said, "Do you believe that guy's the healer?"
She said, "I believe Jesus is the Healer." I said, "That's right." I said, "But I'm Brother Branham."
She said, "Is you da healer?"
And I said, "No, no." She grabbed me right by the lapels, like that, of the coat.
She said, "Is--is--is you da healer?"
I said, "No, you said Jesus was the Healer."
She said, "Yes, suh, but--but--but--but--but you is the--the--the--the Parson Branham?"
And I said, "Yes, ma'am."
And she said, "Oh, have mercy on me, Parson Branham." She said, "Lord, how did this ever happened?"

E-43 See? Out there, and how did this ever be? God knows how to do it. And I said, "Well, if you'll turn loose of my coat now." I said... And I couldn't pull it. No, sir. She wasn't going to turn me loose. No, sir. She was holding me right tight.
She said, "No, suh." She said, "I might lose you here."
And I said, "No, I'll pray for you." See?
And I said, "Let me have your hand just a minute. I want to hold your hand while I pray for you." I said, "You bow your head now." And she did. And I prayed something like this.

E-44 I said, "O dear God some nineteen hundred years ago an old rugged cross come dragging down through Jerusalem, dragging out the bloody footprints of the Bearer. On the road up to Calvary, the weight was so heavy, the big old cross on His little weak shoulders, it rubbed it till He fell under the load. Then along come Simon, the Cyrene, colored man and picked it up and helped Him bear the cross." I said, "Lord Jesus here's one of his children tonight, staggering here in total blackness and darkness. She can't see her hand before her. Lord, You know what it meant for that man to take that load off of Your shoulder that day and to help You to bear that cross." I said, "God, You bore her sickness at the same time You was bearing that cross up yonder." I said, "I ask Thee now..." And just about that time something come over me; I knowed it had happened. I knowed it was gone. I waited just a minute.
Now, wonder if Brother Baxter gives you the instructions in the afternoon here. When a demon... See a growth is a demon. And it's living, building cells. And just the life leaves it. But you... It'll shrink. And then after while it'll swell and get bigger than it ever was. But the life's gone out of it. It'll leave you. See?

E-45 And if you don't know those things you'll sure can't... You don't understand Divine healing, well you--there's no need of trying it, because it's just a try anyhow. See? If you're trying it like that...
But if you know what's going to happen, then your faith is centered. Then you've got to sick before you get well. 'Cause that growth's in you and your blood stream has to take a... Think of a piece of growth that big on the inside of you, and it... Well, it plain rotten, a lump of meat like that laying in you... Sure, you have fevers and sickness and everything. Some people say, "I lost my healing." Well, that's the best sign in the world, you've got it. See?
And so I was waiting for that shrinkage to come on that cataract so she could see. She had her head down. I said, "Don't raise your head now. And don't make any noise." I said, "If you do, then..." I was watching where my ushers hadn't got there yet.
So I--I said, "Now, as you raise your head, keep your lids over your eyes till you get just about even with what you think was my face. And I'll tell you when to open your eyes."
She said, "All right." And I'd give her time, then she raised her head.
I said, "You're just about even now. Now, do you believe?"
She said, "Yes, suh." She said, "Something cool went all through me."
I said, "Now, you--you can see just a moment."
And she said, "Oh, Lawd," and the tears running down her dark cheeks like that.

E-46 And I said, "Now open your eyes. You've received your sight in the Name of Jesus Christ." She opened her eyes. She said... Light. She said, "Is that lights?" Said, "What's this?" See? It wasn't too thin yet. She--she couldn't tell daylight from dark. But it shrink, (You see?), when they--the--the life went out of the cataract.
She said, "What... Is--is--is--is them spots wa... Is that people going?"
I said, "That's right." She said, "Oh, Lawd, I who was once blind now sees." And--and she give a big scream and jumped out like that.

E-47 And about that time I... The ushers was coming around over at the corner. I started to go back this way to meet him. And there was an old brother standing there, his one leg was setting out like this. He had a big club in his hand, had been watching that drama. And he was standing there like that. He said, "Brother Branham, I know who you are." He said, "I've been standing in this rain eight days." And he said, "I've got a bunch of little children at home." He said, "Will you ask God to heal me?"
I looked at his leg. I said, "How long has it been that way?" He said, "A wagon run over me when I was a boy." And said, "I got to work for chi--make my children a living." Said, "I've been standing here eight days in this rain."
I said, "Do you believe with all your heart?"
He said, "With all my heart I believe you're a good boy. And whatever you ask God, God will do it."
I said, "Give me your crutch in the Name of Jesus Christ." And as I stand here, a living testimony before God, that crooked foot straightened out like that. He leaped out a jump like that, and up in the air he went, screaming to the top of his voice. Yes, sir.
And as I started up through there the women to that time... Now, my mother's setting here. My wife will be tomorrow night. She gets after me when I says this.

E-48 When I was first started out I didn't even have a suit of clothes to wear. Now, that's--that's true. My brother, a young boy, he'd had a wreck, and he took a suit and it tore; it'd been torn up in a wreck in a car. And he...?... start with. And I had the old coat on, and the trousers that was cut in several places.
And Meda and I, that's my wife, we went down to the ten cent store and got some of them patches you know, you iron on with a hot iron, you know? And we'd--we'd iron some patches on them. And the coat was tore here on the pocket on the right hand side, tore down that way. And I got me a needle and thread. And I'm not very much of a seamstress. So, but I sewed it all up the best I could.

E-49 And when ministers would come, you know, dressed up nice and everything, and I wanted to meet them, they'd say, "Brother Branham, this is so and so."
I was afraid they'd that old--old tore pocket. And I'd hold my right arm over it like this, and I'd give them my left hand. I'd say, "Excuse the left hand is closer to my heart." I said... Hold my left hand like that, and that old ragged coat...
But as I was going down through there, those poor, with this world's goods... Yes, cotton pickers so forth standing there... But I got a glimpse in there and seen how Jesus Christ revealed the secrets of the heart. See how He made... They had faith.

E-50 And they were pressing and taking their little children, and touching that old ragged coat to get healed. Let me tell you, there wasn't a one that was touching but what was getting healed. Now, it wasn't the old ragged coat, brother. It was their faith in Jesus Christ that was making them whole.
That same Lord Jesus that was there that night is right here in Chicago, Illinois, tonight, here in Chicago Gospel Tabernacle. And just a touch of His garment, by faith He will make you well of whatever is wrong with you. Do you believe it? [Congregation says, "Amen."--Ed.]
Our heavenly Father, oh, when I think about those glorious red letter days, how that You were merciful and kind to the peoples. How they rallied by the thousands and You healed them till they'd take big cattle trucks and pile it full of wheelchairs and stretchers and cots. The people marched through the streets singing: "Only Believe."
On the other side of Jordan, some of these days when we set down there, we'll meet many of them, talking about the great things that You did here on earth. And my heart goes back tonight, thinking of that night when that poor colored girl, standing there received her sight. Years later, meeting her again there as a waitress, working...
God, how thankful I am in my heart that You are the resurrected Jesus. And tonight this old world shook to pieces, troubled on every hand, the whole world's nervous, atomic, and the bombs, and hydrogen bombs hanging over us. Fearful enemies, Lord, who it's right in their hands could destroy the whole nation overnight, the world a tottering...

E-51 Oh, but God look yonder, You've died yonder at Calvary and has redeemed us and got Your blessings with us. And God there couldn't be an atomic bomb fire out here now. In two minutes we'd be in Your Presence, standing yonder, made in His likeness, sons and daughters of His to live with Him throughout ceaseless ages. Nothing can harm us. And all things work together for good to them that love You.
And, Father, there's many of Your sick children here tonight. I pray that You'll heal every one them. And as they leave this building tonight. May they go rejoicing and happy and be made well of all their infirmities. And may there not be one feeble person left in our midst. Grant it, Lord.
May something special happen tonight: Just something out there that the Holy Spirit will just fall over the people in such a way till they just can't keep from receiving it hardly, Lord. Grant it. And may they have a deep understanding; open up their hearts and understanding, Lord, to know that these things are only to the glory of God, and for the edifying of God's Church, which Jesus Christ purchased with His own Blood. For we ask it in His Name. Amen.

E-52 What's your prayer card, B? All right. I didn't get to ask Billy tonight. But he and Brother Baxter both was standing out to pick me up when we come in. I was late. He said he give out prayer cards B.
All right. Let's not line too many at a time. Listen, if one person in this building... The Bible has been preached. That's first and the initial, right here. It's got to be THUS SAITH THE LORD. And if God said so, that settles it.
Remember, the Word of God will defeat Satan anywhere, anytime. Just say, "It is written. It is written." That settles it. Satan will have to flee. "Resist the devil and he will flee from you."
Now, do you want me to tell you the first thing before we get the--while we're getting the prayer line lined up ready? Do you want me to tell you what I think is the matter with the Chicago, here what's the matter with the people? I'll tell you just what I think. I think you're lovely people. You've got... This is one of the nicest...

E-53 When I get started praying for the sick, there seems to be a bank of faith setting right there, till in so much, I can hardly pick out, just when the Angel of the Lord... I see it like a Pillar of Fire, like hangs out over the person. And I'll watch and I'll see what It's going to do. And It'll open up. Then I'll see who it is. Then I'll look down and see what's the matter with them, then see who the person is. See?
I can't do it myself. It's just who He says. It's not what I say. But you certainly have good wonderful faith. I can feel that, and I believe it. But here's what you're afraid of, you're afraid to turn that faith loose. That's it. You're afraid to act your faith. See? Don't do that. Faith without works is dead.
Just say, "Thank You, Jesus. That settles it. I'm going right on now believing You." See? And then... Now, these signs...
I know I've been accused of being an astronomer, or a soothsayer, or a devil, a... Oh, my, there's nothing hardly has been in the dictionary but what I've been called.
All right. But that doesn't make any difference. They called the master of the house Beelzebub. So I can expect that.
But, my Christian friends, I have never professed to be anything than a servant of God. I'm just a servant and only that, a sinner saved by grace. That's all. See?

E-54 There's nothing in the world that I could do to help you, only through a... Now, by preaching I could tell you what the Word says. Brother Baxter does that. And then a... With a Divine gift, if God will permit, it will do the works that Jesus did.
Now, Jesus didn't profess to heal the people. He said... He only did what the Father showed him. But He did perceive their thoughts. Is that right?
What if I told you Jesus Christ was a mind reader? How many would believe me? Oh, just a very few. But He was. Oh, oh. That met some opposition, didn't it?
All right. The Bible, said Jesus (many places) perceived their thoughts. How many says that's true? Can anybody tell me the difference in perceiving thoughts or reading a mind? If He knows what you're thinking about, what's He doing? Not one of these psychic mind readers the devil's got out here to impersonate, I mean something for the glory of God. Yes, sir.

E-55 The Urim Thummim was something that the lights flashed on a--on a breastplate of Aaron here over the twelve stones as the Urim Thummim was over it. Now, the devil went and got a crystal ball to look into. See? The devil's got a pattern of everything God has got. The Bible says so. Yes, sir.
So you'd look out there. "But by their fruits, you shall know them." The devil doesn't preach the gospel and get people to be healed, and saved, and accept Jesus Christ, and baptize them and... Why, certainly not. If it is, he's in business with God.
Jesus said, "How, why how, if Satan cast out Satan," Said, "then his kingdom's divided." Is that right? "No man can do a miracle in My Name, can speak light of Me."
When the disciples said, "We found one casting out devils and he wouldn't follow us."
He said... Jesus said, "Don't forbid him to do it. No man can say and I can do a miracle in My name, can speak light of him."

E-56 Now, I know he said, "Well, how about that day that You said many will come to me and say, 'Lord, Lord I, haven't I cast...'" Yes. They said it. But Jesus said, "If you did, I know nothing about it." That's these pretenders that you find (See?) just pretending to be.
Jesus says, "Lord, have not I cast out devils, and haven't I prophesied in Your name?" preachers and so forth.
He said, "I didn't even know you." Didn't know nothing about it. They just pretended that they did. But this man was getting the job done, that was casting out devils. He was really getting the--the work done. So Jesus recognized him.

E-57 These just said, "Oh, I did this, and I did that." But it was wrong. They just--they just said they did. Jesus didn't recognize it. But in the Name of Jesus Christ there is power.

E-58 How many believes with all your heart? Lord, I believe; help Thou my unbelief.
Merciful Father, manifest Your Presence and glory tonight in this building, that the children of men might go away from here saying, "Truly, God has raised up His Son from the dead," and showing signs and wonders in our days to call a Gentile Bride out for His Name's sake. We ask this blessing through Jesus Christ's Name. Amen.

E-59 It's all right. I like that. How many believes there's power in music? There's some churches don't believe in having music in the church. Well, that's all right. That's... I won't argue with you that.
But look, my dear friend, one time there was a--some preachers or some kings that went out and made an alliance, and went out into the desert, and was going to do a great work out there, and kill some people, and they--they never sought God. So the first thing you know, they went down to Elijah the prophet to find out about it. And the prophet got all angry. He got angry.
Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are. Is that right? He had his ups-and-downs. He wasn't an angelic being. He was a man: Big old rough looking fellow, hairy body and his hair sticking out like one of these fuzzy worms and his--his beard out like that, and a piece of leather wrapped around his body. If you... If he come up to your house begging, you'd run away from the door perhaps. See?
But beneath that little old brown skin beat a heart that was true to God. That's right. And he looked at him. He said, "If it wasn't that I respected the presence of Jehoshaphat (the believer), I wouldn't even look at you." Is that right? But he said, "Nevertheless, bring me a minstrel."

E-60 And when the music begin to play, the Spirit of God come up on the prophet. If it helped bring the Spirit on the prophet then, it'll do the same thing tonight. Don't you think so? That's right.
All right. All right. Now, the Lord bless you now. And everyone be reverent. Set quiet. Have faith. Don't be disturbed. And just look this way. And when God does anything, you believe with all your heart that God is going to do the same thing for you. And if you do that, then God will bless you. You believe that?
All right. Now, have faith. Now, I suppose you being the--the lady first in the line, why, God is... Do you believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has risen from the dead? And you do. And you believe that these things that we're... Is this your first night in the meeting? You was here last night. You seen the way the Holy Spirit revealed things?
All right. Now, you just come in awhile ago, and they give you a prayer card, and happened to be your number was called, and here you are up here on the platform. Is that right? Yes, sir, that's... God bless you. I believe you have faith. And I...
Now, if Jesus Christ is in the building, then He could... If He was standing here with the coat that I have on and standing here, He--He would know what was wrong with you. But now as far as healing you, He'd tell you that He already did that when he died at Calvary. He'd test your faith. Is that right? He'd test your faith to see if... "Do you believe that?" He'd say. "Do you believe that I died for you at Calvary to heal you?" or to take away your worries or whatever is wrong with you. See? But you'd believe He'd--He'd tell you that? Yeah, see? And then if you believe what He said, that would settle it, wouldn't it? Now, here's the last words.

E-61 Do you read the Bible? What was the--the last words that Jesus said when He left the world? Here's what He said as He was being taken up: "These signs shall follow them that believe. In My Name they shall cast out devils, speak with new tongues, take up serpents or drink deadly things and it shall not harm them. And if they lay their hands on the sick, they shall recover." Is that what He said?
The first commission He give His disciples was to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils. "Freely as you receive, freely give." Matthew 10. The last commission He give to His disciples was heal the sick also. And He's interested in healing, isn't He?
Now, after He'd put it in His Word, and you being a Christian, all things have to work for good then, if you're a Christian. Well, then if--if you be sick, then it's got to be for some glory. It's got to be for God's glory. It can't be for nothing else. See?

E-62 And now, maybe it's for a testimony, that you could testify to your people and tell them what great things Jesus has did. You... That's what you desire? God bless your heart, mother.
You--you're very sick. You've been examined by an examination recently by a doctor, and it was from your back. Oh, it's a--it's a--it's a cancer. And it's--it's on the spine and rectum. Is--is that right? Yes. My, sister... Oh, yes, that's your boy setting there. He's sick too. He has hemorrhages of the nose. I seen him to wipe blood from his nose standing in the yard. You both want to be healed? You want to be healed, sonny boy? All right, let's bow our heads.
Lord Jesus, Your Word said if they lay hands on the sick they shall recover. Now, I rebuke the enemy, the devil, this demon that's killing this woman. Come out of her in the Name of Jesus Christ. And may the Holy Spirit heal her little boy. In Jesus Christ's Name I ask it. Amen.
Now, when you go down there, lay your hands on your boy and say, "Thank You, Lord." All right.
Let's say, "Praise be to God." [Congregation says, "Praise be to God."--Ed.]
Do you believe with all your heart? Thank you. Amen. Hallelujah. I believe he will never have another hemorrhage...?...

E-63 This is strange to you, isn't it? And what makes you so upset, you're bothered with nervousness anyhow. That's your trouble. You believe He will take it away from you? It's your age, and this time there's probably only one remedy for you: that's Christ. That's a horrible thing. It's the worst feeling anyone could have. There's nothing like feeling that distressed. You see? But Jesus Christ can make you well.
And remember, there's not a remedy in a doctor's book for it. Why? It's oppression, demon oppression, like a dark shadow hangs, it's always causing you to be that way. But He will heal you if you can believe. Will you believe? Let's bow our heads.

E-64 Lord Jesus, I pray that You'll heal the woman. Let her go from here tonight and be made well. Grant it, everlasting God, in the Name of Thy Son of Jesus. Amen. God bless you, lady. Now, go thanking God, being happy, and God will grant it.
You having faith? Now, remember friends, it's your faith. There's nothing that a man can do to heal you. A Man has already healed you. You just got to believe what He's done for you. See?
You believe, lady? All right. Let's you and I talk just a moment then. If you're a believer, I--I believe that is truth. You have a wonderful atmosphere. But you're suffering. You have--you've had... Your trouble is bad enough to you as just... you've been to a doctor. And I see him doing something, writing on a... Oh, it's a heart trouble. You have heart trouble, don't you? And he had something around your arm; it's a blood pressure. And it's very seriously, about three hundred. Is that right? I see him shake his head and walk away. He thinks you're going to have a stroke at any time. That's what he said to you. See?
Now, who was in the room there to hear him say that and come back and let me see it right here before me now? Jesus Christ. Is that right? Then He's interested in you, isn't He? You believe you'll never have a stroke now, will you? God bless her now. May her faith be confirmed in Jesus' Name. Amen. Go, believing with all your heart. Amen.

E-65 Let us say, "Thanks be to God." [Congregation says, "Thanks be to God."--Ed.] Believe with all your heart, you shall see the... Everybody in here ought to believe right now. Everybody in here ought to accept their healing just at this time. Believe with all your heart.
How do you do, laddie. My, I like boys with hair cuts like that. You love the Lord? You do. Well, I think you're a fine boy. And now--and a any boy that loves the Lord and loves his mother and father, and I think that's a good boy. I think he can't go wrong doing that.
Now, what if Jesus was here tonight, and you was standing before him, as you are Brother Branham? Now, Jesus would know just what was wrong with you. And He'd come over and pick up children, as He did, lay His hands on them and bless them. You'd get well, wouldn't you? That's right. You'd--you'd get well.

E-66 But, 'course Jesus has went away and has sent back His gifts into the Church. Is that right? Mighty young to have that, son. Have a coughing, asthmatic like in the throat. Isn't that right? Asthmatic cough. Laying down many times, you have to raise; it just coughs you and hurts you so bad. That's a horrible thing. God bless you little boy. You got a very tender spirit.
That's your mother setting right there, isn't it? You believe too? That's your little sister setting right there also. She's got sinus trouble. Isn't that right, honey? Your mother has hay fever. Isn't that right? She has dropsy also. God bless this little lad with his tears running down his cheeks. Let the mother stand and the little girl stand. While the Spirit of God is here tenderly, put your hands over on mother, sister, and mother to the girl.
Our heavenly Father, let Thy mercies come now to these people and may they go from here tonight, and all of them get well. Grant it, Lord. I rebuke the devil that's binding him, may it come out of him in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Look, little lad, what's you name? Your... See, your asthmatic condition's gone. If all this dust on the floor and things like this, you'd be coughing your head off if you'd catch that. You're healed now. God bless you. Go, and may God be with you.
You believe, sir, if I just ask God and God will heal you. In the Name of Jesus Christ may the healing power of God strike your body and make you well. Amen. Now, go believing with all your heart, saying, "Thank You, Lord Jesus."

E-67 All right. Would come, sir? What do you think? Excuse me. Excuse me. Do you believe with all your heart? Would you like to go home and eat your supper? All right. Go ahead. Jesus Christ will make you well. God bless you. May God bless you. Now, you're going to serve him? All your life? All right. God bless you. All right.
Come, lady. Believe God will heal your eyes and make you well? You do? Will you accept your healing now from Jesus Christ the Son of God? Lord Jesus, I pray that You'll heal her. And may she go from here tonight and receive her sight in the Name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Amen. God bless you now. Go, believing with all your heart.
Would you come now? If I didn't say one word to you, you believe that you're in His Presence now? While you're in this building, you're in His Presence. Is that right? And you accept your healing? Then that female trouble has left you. All right. Now, you can go, and God's peace be with you.

E-68 Do you believe, sir? [The man says, "Yes, sir. I'm a minister, and I'm threatened with eye trouble that has seriously handicapped my ministry."--Ed.] You're a minister and have eye trouble? And stomach trouble? So just go on off, and eat your supper, and praise God and preach the Gospel. Amen.
Let's say, "Praise the Lord." [Congregation says, "Praise the Lord."--Ed.] Amen. Oh, thanks be to the Lord Jesus. My soul cries out and magnifies Him, Who is the Author of my life and your life. He is the Author of Everlasting Life, the Giver of every good gift, and sweet and lovely to those who love Him. No wonder He's so... Oh, I love to pour the adoration of my heart to Him. It's joy unspeakable and full of glory to serve Him. Never do I have a desire for anything else but to serve our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

E-69 You want to get over that foot trouble, brother? You do? Stop smoking cigarettes then and serve the Lord, you can have it. Will you do it? All right. God bless you. Go on then, get well. Amen. The blessings of God rest upon you all. Hallelujah.
Something strikes my soul and sways me when I know His Presence is around. Oh, what a feeling. My clothes fit me right, everything, when I know that He's near. You may call me a fanatic. That'll be all right. If it takes fanaticism to believe Jesus Christ, then I'm a fanatic. Amen. I love my Lord. And I know His blessings is with us. And we are the sheep of His fold. Let us come into green pastures and eat to our heart's desire. Amen. Praise the Lord.
Would you come, lady? I know. I--I see what's wrong. Now, you just have faith and just believe there with all your heart.

God's here to make you well, and send you away from here rejoicing and happy, if you'll just believe Him with all your heart. You accept Him now as your Deliverer?

Every person setting in here tonight should be well right now. You believe that, young man, setting there in the wheelchair? You do believe that? Do you believe that, sir, setting over there in the wheelchair? Anybody can see that you all... what's wrong with you. You're crippled. See? It's these people that look well is the things where the mystery comes.

E-82 Little lady, what do you think about it? You believe that Christ will make you well? How many sick people's in here, raise your hand, say, "I believe that Christ will make me well right now."?
I want to quote something to you. I want to do it. Anointing's not striking you so hard at this time, 'cause I skipped a few of them through there without saying nothing to them or watching for vision. So I could do this at the end of the line.
There was in the Bible, three lepers set at the gate one time of the city of Samaria. It was besieged by the Syrians. And they were lepers. In the city, they were killing one another's children and eating the children. They'd eat all the bark off the tree and the grass off the ground.

E-83 And these lepers says... Well, the Syrians had them besieged and they was starving them to death. Now, they said, "Why set we here until we die? Now, we got to do something. Now, let's see, there's only two roads." One of them led in the city.
They had three things they could do. They could go into the city when the gates opened again, or they could set where they were, or they could go down to the camp of the Syrians. Well, they said, "If we go into the city, there's no food there, because the people are eating one another's children. So there's no food there. And if we sit here, we're sure to die. So we only got one hope; that is, we'll go down to the Syrians. If they kill us, we're going to die anyhow. We're--we're going to die. So if we go down to the host of the Syrians, if they kill us we die anyhow. But if they save us, then we live." Now, they only had one--one chance, and that was going down to the host of the Syrians.

E-84 Now, what a chance that was: to an enemy, and them lepers. So you're not in that position tonight. But perhaps, you're setting in these chairs, you're got cancer, you--you're eat up with cancer, TB, and so forth. There's not a thing on earth you can do about it. Your doctor has done all he can do. Medical science, everything has done all they can do. And if you're setting there, you're bound to die in that condition.
So, let's do something about it. We got a chance tonight. And that's not go down to the enemy's camp, but come to your lovely heavenly Father Who's promised to heal you. You're going to die anyhow. So let's come and believe His Word.

E-85 He may save you. Not He may, He will. He has. He's just only wanting you to believe it and exercise a little faith. Can you do that? Can you believe tonight for anything? Oh, my brother sister, if you could only take a hold yonder and say, "Yes, Lord Jesus, I believe it." If you believe it deep enough in your heart, there's not enough devils in this country to keep you from being healed tonight. All...
"Heavens and earth will pass away, but God's Word shall never pass away." Is that right? Now, He said, "Whatsoever things you desire..."
I have to watch over the audience. People are being healed setting right along here now. After I'm gone from here weeks. You'll still be hearing the people being healed, saying, "Well, that just left me. That just left me." It's happening all over the building right now. It does each night. I see it like that.

E-86 If I go to looking close to it, then it's just one vision from another. And then I get so weak I can hardly go through the meeting. But let's you and I tonight rise and say, "Lord Jesus, I've--I've set here long enough. I'm coming to You tonight, believing with all my heart that You're going to do it right now for me." Will you believe it?
Now, I tell you what you--want you to do. I want you to bow your head, everywhere. Now, I'm going to pray for you. And now, do believe the commission of the Angel? He said, "If you'll be sincere, get the people to believe, nothing shall stand before the prayer."

E-87 Now, look friends, think of King George of England, when he was healed with multiple sclerosis, when we had prayer for him. Think of Florence Nightingale, her grandmother, the founder of the Red Cross, was about sixty pounds of weight, laid dying yonder with a cancer on the duodenal of the stomach, laying there dying. A little dove flew into the bush there and the Spirit of God come and said, "THUS SAITH THE LORD, she shall live." And she weighs a hundred and fifty-five pounds in perfect health.
Think of Congressman Upshaw setting bound in chairs and bed for year after year, for sixty-six years. And right in a moment's time raised to his feet, run through the building, touched his toes, was perfectly made normal and well.
Just think of the thousands and thousands of people that's been healed. Why set we here until we die? Let's do something about it.

E-88 Now, if God would respect a prayer... I'm asking each one, don't pray for yourself, pray for somebody else. Don't pray for yourself. I'm going to pray for you. You pray for somebody else. And then I'm going to ask the devil with one rebuke to leave every person here. I believe anybody that will believe Jesus Christ and accept Him and His resurrected power, will be healed tonight, right here. You can accept it and go home and be well.
I want you to bow your heads. Lord Jesus, I have tried with all my heart, Lord, in these past nights to explain, to bring to the people the love of God, that He had for them when He shed abroad the Holy Spirit in their hearts. They're lovely. They set in this hot building listening every night.
But, Lord, I realize that there's one thing wrong: that Satan keeps making them wonder, "Well, am I sure it could be?" I pray Thee, Lord, that You will bless them and will heal them. And may Your Spirit be upon everyone just now. And may the enemy lose his grip. And may women and men and boys and girls, those who are setting in the building now, with one accord, Lord, look to You as we're praying one for the other.

E-89 And I pray that You'll break the holds of Satan, that great spirit of unbelief. O God, knowing that he's the one that causes the enemy. He's the one that causes the--the defects. "For all things are possible to them that believe." And when unbelief is existent, then God can't have the right of way. But, Father, may the devil flee tonight. Grant it, Lord.
And now, as Your servant, as I stand here in a representative way of Your vicarious suffering and bleeding and dying yonder at Calvary, when He was wounded for our transgressions, and bruised for our iniquity, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, with His stripes we were healed...

E-90 Lord God, I believe that, and stand before Your people as Your representative (Hallelujah.) As Your ambassador. And I say to Satan tonight, "You have no right to hold these people any longer." They are believing. Their hearts are mending in with God, welding in with His Spirit. And now, I rebuke thee, Satan, you devil that's making these people suffer. Come out of them in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Do you believe that you're healed? If you do, rise up and give God praise and glory. Stand to your feet if you believe you're healed. Clap your hands. Say, "Thank You, Lord Jesus." "Thank You, Lord Jesus." All right, Brother Boze. God bless you.
